First birth year razor shave :-
After a bit of searching over the last couple of years, finally picked up a birth year razor (with the right quarter too) in very good condition. Also the first time I've used a Gillette Slim Twist. Returned to the Voskhod balde, which never fails.
A nice clean shave. Love the handle, and paired with the Voskhod no issues whatsoever. Having recently bought a Tech too - find myself enjoying the vinatge, milder razors. Having been wet shaving for 5 years, may be it's that the technique has come together. That or it's an age thing
Happy weekend and shaving gents.

I'm not sure that I have ever used any de blade this many times - I normally toss them after four uses maximum - they are cheap and I have loads of them - there is only one way to find out if a blade is past its best and that is generally an unpleasant experience. The Polsilver SI is still working at optimum five shaves in - not a hint of it degrading. I'll maybe not push it much further though. In a citrus mood again today - I've had my issues with P&B soaps in the past - but when they work - they work very well indeed. The scent of the Citra Royale is balanced and opens out nicely for me. Top end slickness, glide and face feel. It has taken me a while to suss the right amount of moisture needed though - they can be a bit fussy in this respect. I have enjoyed re-visiting the OSP tonics no end - the scent and performance of the Lemon and Cedarwood are wonderful. The initial hit of the lemon reminds me of a freshly cut fruit - no hint of sweetness or of it being cloying. It drops fairly quickly onto the bed of Cedarwood - nice. Quite persistent for an aftershave. Talking of scent - despite the fact that I picked up the ADP Leather a few weeks ago on bst - this is actually the first time I have used it properly. Mainly due to my other half deciding it was her new favourite thing - on her, not me. She suits scents that might ordinarily be considered masculine. I was subjected to a thinly veiled olfactory propaganda campaign - to the effect that it didn't work on me. Probably her most colourful description was - 'you smell like the hallway of an incontinent old lady with too many cats.' Bollocks - not falling for that - I love the Colonia Leather - it smells 'expensive' - which it is. Longevity and sillage approaching Creed levels. It cost me three travel atomisers worth of the Colonia to get it back. So - job done - there is no point in further rhapsodising about the Rockwell - if you have one you'll know - if you don't - you should. All in all a great shave - enjoy yours too - cheers - I.
