Nice handle from Yaqi as usual but not sure about the bleached knot. (their product photo is way overexposed so hard to tell really)
Thater says they make the knots themselves and use a very select type of naturally blond boar. They have not said where the bristle originate.I must have shaved with boar brushes for more than 30 years - principally Culmak, when a new brush meant a trip to your local (independent) chemist. The result of a (relatively) brief sidestep into badgers has still left me favouring the lower end of those, especially finest - scritchy with backbone.
I've some vintage boars, and mixed, but have added a Zenith today.
The Thater is lovely - principally for the handle. I wonder where the knot is from?
It just may be that you have a duff one, mine does not seem to be displaying the same problems as your's. Maybe back it for a replacement. P. It would be interesting to hear from anyone else who has bought one and is also not experiencing these problems. Paul.

I had a Zenith Horsehair that had a real shedding problem but after about seven shaves it was down to the occasional single bristle loss. It is the only one of my eight Zenith and Zenith knotted brushes have been a shedder.wtf: rested Zenith for a couple of days and back in action this morning it lost 14, fourteeeen, hairs! will give it a week but if this continues I will bin it even though I basically like the brush...
Omega best boar knots in my opinion. And at $85 they can keep them. I could have some really crazy nice customs turned for that, and stick Omega knots in them.
The Thater boar to date:
After first shave:None of my Omega or Semogue Boar brushes broke in this quickly or retained this much body. My Zenith knot brushes are almost as nice but of course the whole Zenith package simply doesn't really compare. Some of my Experienced Rubberset brushes that have been used for many decades are as nice now as the Thater after just three shaves not not one of my modern boar brushes is as nice.
After second shave:
After third shave:
I've been using shaving brushes, nice shaving brushes, for over a half century and I've not yet found a better boar brush than this one.
