Chicken livers are one of the last easily accessible great cheap eats. Unfortunately school dinner ladies have a lot to answer for...
Make sure they are plump and pink, trim off the sinew, don't over cook, treat like steak, season well, add a bit of balsmic and spread them straight on toast or crusty bread. Delish.
You're in the majority in not being able to stomach food that actually looks like the parts of animals. It's just a little conditioning, even in good butchers you don't see the extremities of animals anymore.
