Mrs K thought it was a good idea to teach the kids about transformation and decided to purchase a Butterfly garden. So you get the gear and send away for the caterpillars who are contained in a glass jar with all the food they can eat. Man do they grow quick!
After about 14 days or so the climb to the top of the jar spin the silk and create their Chrysalis. The kids were excited to say the least. Then one by one they started to emerge as butterflies. Out of 5 we got four that were able to fly. One unfortunately had a crumpled wing that wouldn't open so something went wrong. This put us in a bit of a predicament. If we were to assist we would kill it, so we decided to let it live and release and allow nature to take it course.
After they had been released I saved the Chrysalis to take some images.
1. Full Chrysalis 154 image stack using a Canon 100mm. What amazes me was the remaining detail of the schuck with colour of the caterpillar before it emerged.
