Very clean and stylish. When you get it check the bottom of it as there will be date codes (just like on Gillette razors) that will allow you to accurately date it
Dumb question: is the only difference with a pipe lighter that the flame comes from the side of the lighter as opposed to from the top of it?
I think so. I've just ordered rather a nice Art Deco style pipe lighter which has a side flame. Much easier for pipe-lighting.
It's this one, from Peterson:

As my surname begins with P it's even monogrammed!
My new lighter has arrived....

I'm very pleased with it. It's quite small, which I think is a good thing, and has a wonderful tactile quality.
All I need now is some butane. Which is odd, because yesterday, in anticipation, I went to the supermarket specifically to buy some. I returned with £105-worth of shopping, and, of course, no butane!
I'm an occasional pipe smoker (and don't otherwise smoke), but I can see this lighter being an EDC item just because it's such a nice thing.
It's very MadMen!
I just recently moved one of these on after it had sat in my wardrobe unused since the mid nineties , it turned out to be not a bad investment
