Your first De razor

What is the difference between the Edwin Jagger 89 and the Muhle 89? A quick google tells me it's just a few grams difference in the handle weight, the Muhle being lighter? Is this correct?

I've got the EJ 89 and always found it a great razor.

Depends on which handle option you opt for Pete, the head was developed in collaboration between the two factories and is the same for both makes. The wide range of handles available across both ranges will give minor weight variations.

My first razor was a Merkur 23c and whatever razor I seem to use after this just don't cut the mustard....admittedly I've only bought four since, I just keep going back to the awesome Merkur. Anyone else do this? Anyways what was your first De?
Me lol merkur 25c open comb nothing comes close to this for me. I have tried plenty and sold them all. I Evan had two of these at one time as my brother didn't like a open comb.

Edwin Jagger DE89 here too. It was a good intoduction but I soon wanted a bit more efficiency so moved to a Parker 24C after reading Leisureguy's book. He's spot on with regard to this razor. It is as gentle as a DE89 but a bit more efficient. I have not used the DE89 in a while. I should get it out again.

My first DE was the EJ86 but when I tried the Merkur 34C I got four more Merkurs which I rotate as the head is just right for me. I do have a EJ89 as part of my collection and along with a couple of Parkers (96R and 24C) and a couple of vintage razors gets dropped into the rotation to provide variety.
