Your first De razor

I never had the pleasure of using Whickham's Supersmooth shave soap, was it a croap or a cream and why was it discontinued? I do like the 1912 hard soap though, a great performer with great scent.

Talking of Wickham and talking of first razors I can happily state that @Leisureguy called it absolutely right with the Parker 24C: thanks Michael.

I had a shave with it today when it came through the post using a Personna Platinum blade and Wickham's 1912 Classic 24 soap and my Dalit Goods Co Synthetic Badger brush*and it was lovely. It does give a better, more comfortable and closer shave than the DE89 and the Tech 4 (and my vintage Wilkinson Sword Sticky- not used the Fatboy get). I found it had a lovely weight to it and cut efficiently without having to go over spots. Unlike the other razors it cut cleanly on the neck without having to go against the grain (and ending up with razor burn) and giving me just as good a shave as I got from a pro barber in Italy last month: a true BBS.

The quality of the razor in terms of plating and alignment seems nearly on a par with the Edwin Jagger: none of the slapdash quality people mention on forums. Will probably replace the EJ as the razor always on bathroom shelf.

[Shameless plug for the brush. Sold by a charity that helps Indian street kids only £9 go get one]

Without wanting to divert the OP's thread, the Super Smooth was a firm soap without being brick like in consistency. Foxy felt it was not as good as it could be and had to be to compete with some if the newer ones coming onto the market, so developed 1912 and that's all she wrote.

Yes I appologise to the OP @SomersetShaver for straying away from the origanal post. :) and thank you JohnnyO.

First DE Razor for me was the Feather Popular, main driver for this was the price and it's reputation for being mild, I decided if DE shaving did not suit me I would not have spent too much. Spent quite a bit on shaving since then:).

If you or someone you know wants to try out DE shaving for as little as possible, try out the wilkinson sword classic £4.45 with blades and postage.

Amen to that. I paired it with a Gillette Nacet and it formed part of my travel set recently, with a Palmolive stick and Omega Mixed Midget. Gave a ++DFS.

First razor I bought was a 34C from Amazon.

Later I inherited my Dad's 1960s Slim Twist and soon after found an early 1950s Rocket in a collectors shop for £5.

All three still in use and brilliant shavers.

Second was a Merkur 23C which proved to be useless.
