Your favourite brush

I know it is generally a cop out, but to me, asking what ones favorite brush is, is akin to asking what their favorite woman is. Do you like them big breasted or small? Tall and lithe, or short and gymnastic? Well, I am telling you that I like them all as long as they are well taken care of. [emoji41]

But my current favorite of each type is:

-Doug Korn DK7 w/Envy White 24mm
-Omega 10066 in Manhandled Woods handle
-Simpson Duke 3 Synthetic
-Epsilon 27mm "Poor Man's Chubby" White Horse

Ask me tomorrow and I'll give you four more. And completely mean it. [emoji1]

Nothing fancy but I've used about 80 brushes over the last 10 years and my all time favorite is the first generation silvertip fibre from muhle/EJ (replaced by v2 in 2013).

I have a Muhle 23mm STF, but am not sure whether its a V1 or V2. It was from the BST and the seller wasn't sure himself. Is there any way of telling? All I know is that the code is 33K256, but that doesn't mean a lot. For all I know that code could apply to both versions. Any thoughts? Just curious, its a very good brush anyway

The only way to tell is if you know for a fact or if you have a v2 to compare against.

I have a 23mm v2 and the fibres are finer, slightly softer and lighter in colour compared to the v1.

The v1 just generates my optimal lather so fast and actually does feel kinda like a badger, I guess due to the thicker fibres.

I currently have 21 synthetics, 3 of which are the v1 (21, 23 and 25mm). I enjoy them all for a change but would have no hesitation in choosing the v1 as my favorite.

Thanks @Nav for resurrecting this thread. I've amended my posts to attach the photos which have disappeared for one reason or another.

May I ask what's the razor in the photo?

The head is the Rockwell 6S and the handle is the hexagonal stainless steel handle from maggard.

I'm a fan of hexagonal handles as it's just did much easier to grip them.

I wish brushes were made with these shapes instead of round. I have the yaqi moka express which is very ergonomic due to its handle shape.

Thanks getting back to me.

Muhle do a range with hexagon handles.

My favourite is the Simpson 2xl colonel, I use it when home and now nowt else pretty much, the semogue just seems way too floppy now as I enjoy face lathering, the omega boar just seems a bit underwhelming, I have been tempted for a Simpson with a slightly larger knot (Captain 2) but will wait.

When away working it is a yaqi 24mm knot synthetic just for the cheapness and it does an adequate job, also will not be worried if I end up leaving it behind as so cheap.
