What Watch Are You Wearing Today?

I have a fairly deep scratch in the crystal of one of mine, best method/product to get it out?
If you have a straight, diamond lapping film is ideal. Wet the glass, as a sanding block I've used a new eraser tipped pencil & glued the film onto it with a dab of super glue.

If the scratch is near the edge of the glass tape up the bezel with some masking tape in case you slip off the glass.

It takes a while. Stick with it & you can make good most scratches. Keep wetting the glass as you go, it washes away the spoil.

If you haven't got any lapping film there are eBay vendors selling a selection of diamond polishing pastes for polishing stone. Last time I looked a trio of large, med, fine pastes in 5ml tubes was ~fiver. Use a cotton cloth & clean off with damp microfiber.

Do you know if the crystals acrylic, mineral glass or sapphire?

Acrylic - Toothpaste
Mineral - Swap the crystal, they're cheap as chips.
Sapphire - Diamond paste.

Sorry about the reflections in the glass.

A nice collectors item there fella ;) Longines attempt to fight off the impending world domination of quartz watches.
A very high beat 36,000bph movement. The higher the beat rate, the more accurate the movement. Problem being, keeping the lubrication where's its supposed to be with parts moving at high speed!

Nice.

Had a Vostok watch a couple of years ago, purchase inspired by a thread on here. Sadly, due to clumsiness I broke it.
Fast forward til early this month, I had a hankering after another automatic watch, it was a choice between an Orient Mako or a Vostok. Budget dictated a Vostok would be the sensible choice. I went for this 24 hour dial model, just to have something a bit different.
It'll take a bit of getting used to, never having had a 24 hour watch before, you have to properly look at the dial to tell the time.
Feels pretty solid, comes with the strap shown in the photo - I wasn't a fan of the metal band the previous watch came with, this Nato style one really suits the watch IMHO.

Dear Orangesport,

Please refrain from posting vivid and incredibly tempting pictures of your beautiful watches and inviting others to do so. I am still trying to cope with my husband's addiction to brogues and other such expensive, English-made footwear. It would seem that I can trace said shoe obsession back to you and your lovely Loake brogue collection. I want a new kitchen and that fat bugger is getting no more!

Yours cordially,
Mrs Gairdner (SWAMBO)

P.S. in case you are wondering, the 'A' stands for 'Absolutely'.....:icon_twisted:
Man after my own heart, shoes & watches, I drive my wife nuts too, she says I was a woman in a former life as no man should like shopping as much as I do lol
