You're welcome. I would be interested in your opinion of the novel.
Going to give this a try:

Since the last post I finished Origin by Dan Brown, very good read and follows the usual formula.
Since finishing that I have read the following:
The Book of Tokyo by Various Authors - Collection of short stories, some good and some very odd!
Kusamakura by Natsume Soseki - A beautiful novel which follows its artist-narrator on a meandering walking tour of the mountains. At the inn at a hot spring resort, he has a series of mysterious encounters with Nami, the lovely young daughter of the establishment.
Currently reading The Woman in The Dunes by Kobo Abe. Very good so far, and on the plus side I have finished my Goodreads Reading Challenge of 24 books for the year. Currently on 27, 28 when finished this current one.
I went for 52 on the Reading Challenge. But about half of them will be audiobooks. I spend a lot of time commuting. Congratulations on completing your challenge!
Thank you. Three of mine are audio books, it was the only way I could finish The Divine Comedy, so dense to try and read it. Good luck with yours.
Thanks. I'm ploughing my way through Alan Moore's 'Jerusalem'. It's magnificent! But long. Only another 400 pages to go though.
I've finished American Gods a couple of days ago and already miss it..
It’s an astonishing feat of imagination isn’t it Mike?
It was an amazing experience, I loved it from beginning to end.
About halfway my wife asked what it was about but I couldn't even tell as nothing had really happened yet in the first 300 pages. It was just as described on the back 'silky smooth' reading.
Now about fifty pages in the new David Baldacci and it's just driving me crazy from time to time, there's this one bit where someone is getting a phone number out of a phone and is 'getting it out of her pocket and keying in a couple of buttons to get the number' .. It's 2017 I don't think people need explaining how a phone number is extracted from a phone anymore. It just feels like page filling.
Totally different with American Gods, nothing makes sense but the way it's written it just works!
But definitely going to go through this thread for some book ideas! Winter is coming, first jigsaw puzzle has been completed in one record breaking afternoon so let the books and the snow come!
Do you prefer thrillers Mike?
Yes I do love a good thriller!
I like a lot of different books really, recent favorites are American Gods, American Sniper and I am Pilgrim but also loved the Kite Runner and Shadow of the Wind.
Have you tried Lee Child’s Jack Reacher series? Very good.
Ow yes, brilliant series! I think I still have about six to go, actually a good idea to start one of the ones I haven't read!
Have you ever seen the Jack Reacher film with Tom Cruise? I haven't but just thought from the books someone like Dwayne Johnson would've been a better actor to play Mr Reacher!
I couldn’t watch the film knowing that Tom Cruise was playing Reacher!
Seesaw volume 1 and have volume 2 ready a short story collection by number one best seller Rosen Trevithick, a great read and she happens to be my cousin so how could I not?
I think the new Lee Child, Reacher installment is out now.
It is. The Reacher series is my guilty secret.
Caught up on all the books I have so far started this year and started to read Killers of the Flower Moon by David Grann.
