Its new to me despite being familiar with Dougie, I was led to it by this book: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Recollections-Emperor-Napoleon-During-Captivity/dp/1540825825

Whilst Napoleon was in exile on St. Helena, his friend Betsy Balcombe sang "Ye banks and braes" for him.

"When I finished, he said it was the prettiest English ayre he had ever heard. I replied it was a Scottish ballad, not English; and he remarked, he thought it too pretty to be English: ‘their music is vile—the worst in the world. …. He expressed a great dislike to French music, which, he said, was almost as bad as the English, and that the Italians were the only people who could produce an opera."

... He's not wrong, its indeed a lovely song.

Angelo Debarre - La Gitane

Angelo Debarre

Born on August 19, 1962, is a French Romani gypsy jazz guitarist. Debarre was born in Saint-Denis, Paris, and began playing at age eight. In 1984 he formed his first group, the Angelo Debarre Quintet. In 1985 the group was hired by Serge Camps to play at his Parisian café, La Roue Fleurie, where Debarre was discovered by producer and guitarist Jon Larsen. Debarre has performed in several Romani and jazz festivals, including Birdland's annual Django Reinhardt Festival. He recorded Mémoires: Memories of Django with Tchavolo Schmitt.

Wes Montgomery - Live in 1965

John Leslie "Wes" Montgomery
Born on March 6, 1923 – June 15, 1968, was an American jazz guitarist. He is widely considered one of the major jazz guitarists, emerging after such seminal figures as Django Reinhardt and Charlie Christian and influencing countless others. Montgomery was known for an unusual technique of plucking the strings with the side of his thumb which granted him a distinctive sound.
He often worked with organist Jimmy Smith, and with his brothers Buddy (piano and vibes) and Monk (bass guitar). His recordings up to 1965 were generally oriented towards hard bop, soul jazz and post bop, while circa 1965 he began recording more pop-oriented instrumental albums that featured less improvisation but found mainstream success. His later-career guitar style is a major influence on fusion and smooth jazz.
