The worst of the winds are always in the SW quadrant of the low, and as the low centre was further south, Leeds is missing most of the wind action. There always some doubt about the exact track, slightly north or south. The calmest conditions for those sitting right under the low centre. NW 'ly to follow will be cold and wintry

Large parts of Colwyn Bay pier have been washed away, apparently, and there's a major weather-related incident in Wolverhampton city centre.
EDIT: a woman has apparently died in the Wolverhampton incident.

Cold, strong gusty NW winds following Doris, with wintry showers. Closer to the low centre. still lot of extreme W winds with high damaging gusts for Midlands, East Anglia into the SE. Westerly winds scooting through the Bristol channel along the M4. M48 Severn Bridge: CLOSED to high-sided vehicles due to high winds.. Also, strong NE winds picking up for Tyne and Wear now
