Time to try something new?

@DE Convert I recommend a good look at shave of the day - I learn a hell of a lot from seeing what kit people use and how they get on.

I love the Feather Razor - yes, its mild, however, it tames nicely sharp blades. I use Gillette Silver Blues with my feather and Kai Stainless Steel blades, also work very well. As ever YMMV :)

It might be worth trying a very efficient razor - for comparison - if you are up for that the Muhle R41 is a good shout in my opinion.

I wish you well,

Chris

Check out friendship shaving YouTube channel, Mark speaks about the feather WSD1 it's basicly the same thing as the ASD2 he talks about how there is very little tolerance on getting the angle correct and he explains it very well, I've had my ASD2 for nearly 2 years and have had exactly the same findings as Mark, even now I have those off days that I don't quite get the angle right and don't get as close, in my opinion the irritation comes from the temptation of wanting to press on. In all honesty I never get BBS in 3 passes on my neck but that doesn't bother me at all even if it takes 5 passes with a very light touch the result is what matters to me and 5 passes with a very light touch gives me the perfect irritation free BBS shave, my advice would be focus on the angle and the pressure and forget the number of passes, hope this helps

Thanks Olie will definitely check that out.
Santa (the other half) is getting me a Rockwell 6S for Christmas. Looking forward to trying out the different plates to see if I find something that's more suitable.
Will definitely keep the AS D2 though, it's a great razor and will be good for improving my technique.
