SOTD Saturday 9th December 2017 - Friday 15th December 2017

Greetings Billy

That is a very kind offer but I really enjoy preparing my own blades and I'm more than happy with them. I finish on a 12k Naniwa but having said that my finish is really on paste. After the 12k stone I use chromox on balsa and Feox on balsa and then hessian car seat belt, and plain leather strops. It seems to work well for me and gives a nice gentle face friendly edge.

It is very rare that I return to the stones, I manage to maintain the edges on my blades for a very long time with the occasional use of Feox and less often Chromox.

Thanks again Billy for your kind offer.

Regards
Dick
You are Welcome Dick..A Naniwa 12 K is an Excellent Finisher..:D:D

Birch Tar Soap and RSC Facial Scrub
Vitos Preshave cream
Fitjar Slatteroy Shaving Cream
Masteo 24mm Silvertip Brush
Giles Shaving Co Bowl
Focus Slim Al Shavette with a half Feather Blade
Alum Block and Rinse
BBA PS Balm
Brian's Homemade Bay Rum

I really enjoy my shaves with the Focus Slim Al. Very easy to use and excellent results. It was a first for the Masteo Silvertip and I may have to watch it closely. It lost 5 hairs on first use. The Bay Rum was homemade and I must admit that I found it a little strange. Being Rum based….it doesn't have the same kick as a commercially produced after shave with a higher alcohol content.

Three passes for a very satisfying BBS shave

That brush is almost identical to mine but I am a sucker for a marble effect. Must resist!

Lol[emoji38], what brush do you have? This brush is exactly the same as my other synthetic brush, the 24mm RazoRock plissoft but at a fraction of the price.

Blade: Gillette Blue #1
Razor: Fatipe Piccolo
Soap: Phoenix Dirt (On Pass around)
Brush: Maseto 2 band 30mm
Post: P&B Unscented Balm
EDT: Joop

First and foremost I want to write about the Phoenix dirt.
Open the soap lid and it took me back to my rugby days when I was tackled to the ground and the entire pack caved my head into the pitch.
It certainly smells of dirt but perhaps posh dirt where one may find a little moss. :)

Anyway, enough rambling I hear you all say.
The soap changes its scent once lathered into even posher dirt. Base note: Dirt. Middle/Heart: Dirt & Moss. Top/Head: Dirt & Forest Leaves
It really is a soap that is an oxymoron. Why would you want to smother yourself in dirt? I would never have thought of it In a million years but I do like it. Very musky extreme fourgere that dissipates when lathered but the quality of the lather is top notch. I have never used PAA before but I will certainly be looking out for some now.

The Fatipe piccolo paired with the Gillette Blue worked a treat for a 3 pass BBS shave helped by one of my favourite walls of badger which is the Maseto 2 band.

Finished with the balm and a generous helping of Joop.

Enjoy your shaves! :)
