SOTD 09 July 2018

Pre-shave - Warm shower, facewask with Caurnie Organic Nettle Soap.
Razor - Rex Ambassador (level 3).
Blade - Astra Stainless Steel (day 2).
Soap - OSP Barbour Shop Shaving Cream.
Brush - Simpsons Duke 2 Best Badger.
Bowl - Aesop Stainless Steel.
Post shave - OSP Barbour Shop Aftershave Tonic.

OSP BS.jpg

I had a fabulous shave on Sunday: iKon Tech; Vitos Eucalyptus cream; Simpsons Duke 2 - 2 pass BBS - no issues. Today I felt I only needed a 1 pass shave this morning.

Today's shave was excellent, I'm really enjoying the Rex Ambassador and the iKon Tech. However, I decided to go for the Rex, as I did not want to get greedy with the iKon Tech; it felt as if I may get bitten today - the shave gods won't allow 2 surperb shaves on the trot :)

It felt as if it was going to be hot and sticky up here today - I wanted a nice fresh scent so went for the OSP Barbour Shop, which did the trick.

I can't remember weather this hot, for so long - since 1990 (what a summer - just before I started Uni - decent summer job - and other memories I won't mention in case SWMBO pops into TSR for a look ;-) ). For me the benefits of DE and wet shaving on the skin, really come to light in hot weather - no skin irritation; good products which leave the skin feeling clean and smooth.

All the best,

Chris

Brush: Wolf Whiskers 24mm Tux
Razor: Rex Ambassador (3, 3, 2.5)
Blade: Rubie (2)
Soap: Vie Long stick.
Post: Humphrey's Cucumber Melon Witch Hazel.

I find the Rex very smooth in use, and have not experienced the tugging that some owners have reported. The Rex was very ably aided by the Vie Long soap, which is apparently rebranded Lea tallow old formula, and is one that I have not tried. I did have the misfortune to try the reformulated vegetable version. Why did they bother? Chalk & cheese. Finished with a refreshing splash or 3 of Trumper's Limes a/s. Lovely.

RazoRock 400
De Vergulde Hand
Merkur 34C HD
NOS English made Wilkinson Sword (1)
Lynx DarkTemptation Aftershave

A good shave despite a careless nick in an area I didn't even intend shaving. . .must take more care and pay more attention. No lasting damage sustained thankfully.
Lynx DarkTemptation to finish -job done.

Prep: Valobra Glycerlanolina soap, Myrsol Emulsion
Brush: Rudy Vey Shavemac Silvertip Badger
Soap: Lea Classic (Tallow)
Razor: Vintage Gillette Rocket HD
Blade: Gillette Platinum (1)
Post: Thayers Cucumber Witch Hazel / Myrsol Emulsion
Scent: B&M Le Grand Chypre EdT

I am really enjoying the way this brush rips into hard pucks. Loads of lovely tallowy suds from the Lea Classic.
Three passes for a DFS. First use of a modern Gillette Platinum blade. For me, it was sharp, but not the smoothest.

Tuesday

Phoenix and Beau Star Noir
RazoRock Plissoft 24mm synth
Face lather
ER 1912 (Made in England)
Gem SS PTFE
Alum block
Thayer's Cucumber and Aloe Vera
Al Rehab Silver EdP and oil

Sublime today. Smooth as you like and smelling great. The Star Noir fragrance has certainly improved with maturing. I lost count of the number of blade outings; but I think it's on the wane. A fresh one for my next 1912/14/24 Micromatic/Natural Angle outing(s) methinks.
