First go with the somewhat laughably large Maggard Granite. Really lovely to use, especially with a classy vintage soap that just builds and builds and builds on the face. Much enjoyed!

I've been steering clear of aftershave splashes recently, having ended up with really dry skin. I've been using Prep Pre-Shave Cream but after the shave. Why not use an aftershave balm? Well, today Prep's own aftershave balm arrived and it reminded me exactly why I don't use aftershave balms. All those horrid memories of Nivea came flooding back - the burn, the irritation, the tackiness. Just awful. It'll go straight in the bin and a stern memory placement never to use aftershave balm again.

Back to the Prep Pre-Shave Cream massaged in after the shave. Champion!

Thank you Wayne. The Razor is vintage. It is made in the US, probably around 1940. It is called a Krect Slant.

It is a torsion slant, relative mild, forgiving but still quite efficent.
What's makes it special is the connection handle to head. There is no thread or screw. The topcap has a kind of hook that goes through a slot in the baseplate and fits into a counterpart on top of the handle. When assembled without blade all parts are relative loose. With a blade loaded, the hole connection gets under tension because of the thickness of the blade. Ingenious solution IMO. Here som pictures.

Pre:

warm wet flannel to my face.


Wilkinsons Fruits ~ Coconut & Vanilla Body Butter.

Brush:Frank Shaving .

Bowl Lather.

Soap: Chinese Cologne Soap.

Blade:Treet Platinum. (2)

Razor: Muhle R89.

Warm wet flannel/ cold wet flannel to rinse my face.

Post:

Alum Block./Cold Water Face Rinse./Bulldog A/S Balm.

A very enjoyable 3 pass + pick ups no-irritation silky smooth shave with no errors to report.

It was the first time i paired up the treet platinum blade with my R89, and what a great combo it was, very efficient & smooth, with no aggression.

Finishing the shave off with a generous splash of 4711~ cologne A/S.

My face is feeling very smooth, & smelling devine.
