Warm wet flannel/ cold wet flannel to rinse my face.

Post:

Alum Block./Cold Water Face Rinse./ Homemade Lime, Lemon+Peppermint Oil Witch Hazel Mixture./Gillette A/S Balm.

Duru ~ Turkish Lemon Cologne.

Greetings,

Quite a varied assortment of shaving kit , but it worked wonderfully together.
Second outing of the pecksniff's classic cream, and i have to say was a much better result than my first outing, this time i gave the tube a good old shake to make sure all the ingredients where equally mixed together properly...The omega 10049, whipped up a wonderful slick protective lather , in no time i'm really getting to like this brush..all in all a good performing protective lather and a good post shave feeling to my face after the shave.

Another very enjoyable 3 pass + pick ups silky smooth shave with no errors to report.

My parker 98r today performed with sheer utter brilliance, the silver star s.s. blade is my favourite to come out of the lord camp.

Finishing the shave off with a generous splash of Duru~ turkish lemon cologne.

My face is feeling smooth, & smelling devine.;)

Enjoy your day, ladies & gentlemen.

Greetings

Thursday 10th May 2018
Prep: Shower
Razor: Gillette 'New' NOS
Blade: Gillette Nacet
Brush: Plisson Synthetic
Soap: Speick Stick Grated
Aftershave: Astral Cream (soft)
EDT: Penhaligons Lord George (sample)

This 'New' was a car boot sale find, still wrapped in cellophane, a good buy for £2.00!

The Penhaligons Tragedy of Lord George is absolutely lovely but completely unsuited for warmer weather it's a heavy oriental, a winter fragrance IMHO.

Regards
Dick.

Australian Private Reserve Fresca

A big thank you to @Gem AKA Graeme who contacted me completely out of the blue and offered to send me the APR set to try. He also include a load of fragrance samples to boot.

I thought the performance of the soap to be OK. Glide/slickness was good but I found it hard work to create a decent lather (user error no doubt). I wasn't keen on the scent. Strangely enough I really liked the scent of the aftershave (which I really rated) and EDT. The set is obviously based on the same scent profile but I found the soap to be a bit sharp for me.

Another big thank you to James @Acer89 for sending me the Charcoal Goods razor to try. I've been very keen to try the CG razor for some time. I've been after a SB DE razor to fill a gap in my rotation ever since I sold my ATT R1.

First impressions were good. I liked the cardboard box the razor comes in and fit and finish is what you would expect for a high end razor. I wasn't keen on smell though. I found it stayed on my hands afterwards. I know of a few people who take issue with the smell of Brass but this is a first for me, very odd.

OK how did it shave? It performed well but it wasn't ideal conditions as I was using a new soap (I know, I know:facepalm:). I found I needed a lighter touch than normal and did catch myself between the chin and bottom lip. It's not a razor you can throw around like some I've used. It does make me wonder how aggressive the Level 3 plate is? It was smooth, efficient with satisfying feedback. The shave was close and I only needed a couple of touch-ups. I think with time (and improved technique on my part) it will be a very good razor. Would I buy one? Too early to say….

@Looney12345 @halvor @Holyzeus @Wayne @Boru62

Thanks again to Graeme and James.

Cheers
Rob

I got this NOS Schick a while ago, simply for it's novelty, but decided to really test the soap by using this razor today. It's a mild razor, but it gave me a clean, smooth shave in 3 passes. I really like the Spring LE soap from faenalesvos the scent inspired by Terre D'Hermes is subtle in the jar, but opens up alot more during the shave, it's a great performer, that ticks all the right boxes, matched perfectly with the L'Orange Noir aftershave splash.

+1 on the Héritage, Paul. A great all year round one, imo. Guerlain are still producing some great classics (despite all the naysayers bemoaning reformulations: ‘It [insert fragrance name] is nowhere as good as the original/pale imitation...' blah, blah etc.).

(Edited to point out that the aforementioned ‘bemoaners' I have encountered were far beyond the hallowed halls of our convivial forum)

Thursday...

Haslinger Hönig
RazoRock Disrupter 22mm synth.
Face lather
Merkur 34CHD
Sputnik Teflon Coated
Thayer's Cucumber and Aloe Vera
Alt-Innsbruck EdC

A nostalgia trip today, razor-wise. The 34C was my first DE razor. I found a pack of these Sputnik blades lurking in the back of my drawer (under the Astras, Rubies, Nacets, Personnas and miscellaneous NOS ones).

I got a really good shave. The 34C is recognised as a smooth/mild operator. The blade must be reasonably assertive; as a close, 3 pass shave left me smooth as I like.
