Two new products today, brush and soap. The brush, after a couple of trial lathers over the past days, disappointed in the ways only a Semogue boar brush can. The brush is beautiful to me, but, after what appeared to be a good initial loading and lather on the face, the lather died in the brush before the second pass. The brush also shed a further few hairs during the shave. My experience with Semogue boar bushes has always been the same. I have never managed to keep one for more than a month, due to the immense frustration with the thing, but I keep hoping. Despite this the shave went well, the lather was good from the PAA soap but the scent was definitely underwhelming, I couldn't smell much more than soap. The post shave skin conditioning, on the other hand, was first rate. Really close, comfortable two pass shave from the Progress as usual, so not all was lost.
On a brighter note on holiday for a week tomorrow. This is my holiday kit.

Keep on going with the brush which will shed more hair until it settles down and also becomes softer at the tips, as regards loading soap make sure knot is damp only and heavy load soap then hydrate on face to produce a good lather.

Thank you for the helpful and supportive advice Wazzer3. I shall keep at it as you suggest, as I really like the look of this one, and I want it to work.

~SOTD~ October 3rd

Prep ~ Shower, Valbobra Glylcerlanoina Soap
Razor ~ Blackland Sabre L2
Blade ~ Gem Stainless
Soap ~ London Oatcake ~ Lemon Bloom
Brush ~ Cadman Bell Silvertip
Post ~ Thayers
Scent ~ Mancera Cedrat Boise

Although the weather was dull and damp this morning as you would expect in October my shave could have taken place in a lemon grove with the sun beating down apon me, such is the power of this zingy Lemon Bloom shaving soap from London Oatcake Soap and my imagination.
My Sabre made short work of my stubble and in no time at all I was smooth skinned and feeling refreshed.
A few sprays of Cedrat Boise was the perfect finnish to a perfect shave.

Wed 3rd Oct

Vulfix 404 mixd
Cyril Salter Solid soap
ES Claymore V1
Gem S/S [ 7 ]
Williams Aqua Velva A/S Lotion

I find it hard to describe just how good a Shave is with this Razor. Just Utilise the weight without pressure and it shears away any growth with ease. A really enjoyable Shave, with a finish that outshines any I have ever attained with a Vintage SE, and no threat of mishap or irritation.
