I'm a big fan of the Yaqi 26mm Timber Wolf. It's a great brush that suits everything I ask if it. Yaqi currently have some good deals on so I've ordered a few more brushes and razors since their razors also seem to work well for me.

I hear nothing but good things about the Gamechanger. That may be my birthday present request to my wife!

Thanks for the tag and shout out Russell. Glad to hear you are getting along with it.

My chosen theme for today's shave was 'sdrawkcab'

Small things amuse small minds they say, so I was quite tickled when I found an editing facility on Pixlr which mirrors everything. Which only further added to the weight that yes, I do have a small mind.

Back out on the river today so a quick shave was on the books.

This was the second time out for the blade in the Colonial and boy does it make a difference. I inevitably suffer weepers with a new Captain onboard (no pun intended) and never come away with that comfortable feeling. But a second shave with the same blade and that smooth feeling really hits home.

With the Emperor soap; one damn fine smooth shave. As a freebie the Razorock soap is winning my heart and highly recommended from this end. A dab of Nivea to give a nice finish and all I can say is 'eno gnikcuf htooms evahs'

And off to work feeling clean and fresh. The Paul Smith adding a nice fresh scent to compliment this wonderful day in North Lincolnshire.

Here's wishing you an equally as fresh day

Soap - Vitos Red Coco
Brush - Yaqi Fan Tuxedo Mysterious Blue Handle
Razor - Gillette Fat Handle Tech
Blade - Personna Platinum Chrome (1)
Post - Witch Hazel
Balm - RSC
AS - Brut Oceans

A delightful lather with the Vitos Red Coco as ever, which allowed the new PPC in a FH Tech to glide across my face. It's a very nice blade, not a million miles from a Astra SP perhaps? I was trying to compare it to the Personna Lab Blue in my memory which I think is a slightly sharper blade.

Round 2.
The Game changer on the subs bench.
Wow, what a different shave tonight, chalk and cheese.
I decided to use tried and tested soaps and pre shave, an Astra SP in the Razor. Still using great care I found my shaving angle quickly, the first pass went well with the blade Chirping through the stubble, a quick rinse and I think I am nearly done! Lathered up again for the 2nd pass, I decided to complete a mixed run ATG/XTG, with touch up as I went.
SUCCESS (y)
Again indications from Alum block, it was a close shave, cold water splash, a dash of homemade witch hazel. A large dollop of E45 finishing with @Electrif's Lovely Bay Rum.

Game changer not required!!

Yes I have a way to go to get a more comfortable finish and Arthur did say it may take some time to master. I like this razor and I will conquer my technique.

Obviously I wondered why yesterday's shave was pretty poor,
1, technique
2, technique
3, that nut on the end of the handle
4, A blade that had been in and out, travelled home in the razor box, fiddled with at home and then used over cautiously by that said nut on the end of the handle.

By, I love this shaving malarky!

Have a great night All.

I'm still experimenting with this razor and in order to keep things on a level playing field I'm now using a new blade for every shave. I'm wincing at this as £6 for a pack of 10 blades isn't the cheapest and only getting one shave per blade makes it even worse!

However, this evening I tried out a 2 pass shave - one XTG and the other ATG. I also made sure I was using as little pressure as possible to see the difference that made.

It went really well though I caught my chin during the ATG pass. The razor skipped just a little bit and caught. There was a bit of claret but it had stopped by the time I was cleaning up.

I'm still totally and utterly underwhelmed by this razor. Even whilst still learning how to get the most from it. I'm actually enjoying the products I'm using more than the razor itself, which is a first for me. Some may see that as a positive but I enjoy the thrill of the chase so to speak.

Again, the final result is a BBS finish. The Epsilon Blue is a joy to use. My face lit up then had that tingling cold sensation. Adding a touch of Bart's Balm lavender and my skin is smooth as silk.

Another great finish but unchallenging effort.

Have a great night folks. [emoji1303]

Tuesday evening

Tabac Original
RazoRock Disrupter 22mm synth
Face lather
Gem MMOC
Gem SS PTFE
Alum block
Thayer's Rose Petal and Aloe Vera
Nearly Tabac after shave...last minute substitution...Fine Snake Bite

Amazingly smooth and close tonight. This 100% cold water shave malarkey really is the way forward for me. The efficient open comb micromatic gave a great shave with the SS blade; and took care of about twenty four hours of growth.

Using good tools with good preparation and (thanks to a lot of you guys) increasing confidence and, dare I say it, skill reminds me that I could never do daily (well, nightly) shaves with cartridge blades and canned gel without irritation.
