Prep: Valobra Glycerlanolina soap, Myrsol Emulsion
Brush: Rooney 1/3 Super Silvertip Badger
Cream: Occams Crushed Lime
Razor: ATT SE1 / UFO Tornado
Blade: Schick Proline P-30 (3)
Post: Thursday Plantation Tea Tree & Witch Hazel, CRSW Alcohol-Free American Barbershop Moisturising Aftershave
Scent: Penhaligon's Blenheim Bouquet EdT

Of the creams I own or have tried, Occams is one of the very few that gives my best soaps a run for their money.
I was at DFS+ after two passes, but couldn't resist a third against the grain pass for a BBS result.

Vulfix 404 mixed
Blue`s Soap
PAA Starling V2 / Windrose Handle
Gem S/S [ 1 ]
Floid Vigoroso A/S Lotion

I have had Two unpleasant Shaves recently, both of which I attribute to a dodgy Blade. One of them was with the Starling, so I am trying it out with a fresh blade. This Shave was Smooth and comfortable with a good close finish, apart around the neck which is an area that I have problems. So totally different to the other day, I am thinking the Starling is more efficient than a G-Bar/Push Button.Obviously I need a few more Shaves to fully assess its merits as a Gem/SE.

This evening saw my shaving theme aptly named 'Blood Brothers'

20190131_183846.jpg

True blood - Dovo 5/8
Blue blood - Colonial General
Bloodline - Invisible edge paddle strop
Life blood - Razorock 24mm Plissoft
Thicker than blood - L'Occitane Cade cream
Smell of blood - ADP Colonial Club
Blood clot - Superdrug styptic pencil

Blood donor - me

Yet another night of hybrid shaving and well why not? a shedding of a little blood while at it.

Before embarking on this evening's shave a really good bit of time was spent stropping the Dovo to give it a real edge. Perhaps I wasn't quite ready for how sharp these beasts can be, although a fair amount of carelessness played its part.

The chosen cream was L'Occitane Cade as I rate this cream very highly in all respects. Between that and the fact I am away at work and other than Gentlemen's Tonic I don't have much other choice. The brushing act being admirably performed by the Razorock 24mm Plissoft synthetic. In this case the choice being narrowed to one. It.

One bowl of superb lather later and time to connect steel with skin. Bring on the dancing girls, bring on the straight.

I still struggle with how to hold this instrument but I feel I am getting there. The main area I am still trying to figure out is the right hand cheek being as I am right handed. The only way I can get close is by managing to achieve a flip top head stance. Amazingly I had no problem with my neck and pleased I managed below the bottom lip to the chin. Getting around the chin I found very tricky and can only manage to get there with a multitude of little strokes. Not the best of shaves in this area and I could probably have attained better with a kitchen knife. But hey I still have a chin, so some success.

I wish I could say the same for my right ear lobe. Stupidly I wasn't concentrating enough and not watching where the blade end was positioned. Ouch! A larger than small Nick under the lobe and enough blood to be worthy of a reasonable donation.

Other than stupidity and a bit of pondering ( with further pondering to be had) about razor positioning, not so bad a shave at all.

Over to the General to do his bit of tidying up and I was quite amazed at how much it didn't have to remove in the neck and cheek areas. The chin was a bit of a grass cutting exercise, but happy to have even got that far with the Dovo.

End result between the two was very pleasing and other than the silly accident a very nick free shave everywhere else. A touch of Nivea Intensive and all came nicely in to place. Sat here happy.....and with a sore ear. Nothing a quick spray of ADP can't make me feel better about.

Still a long way to go but work in progress. Only another 95 shaves to go and I should be knocking out decent straight shaves according to what folk say. Until then I can live with hairy arse smooth.

Have a great evening all and over to Slayer to play me out

YaqI 24mm 2 Band Marble Handle
Mitchell's Wool Fat
Ikon 102 / Bulldog
SputnIk (3)
Floid Mentolado Vigoroso AS

key bank near me now

Wool Fat takes some extra work for me as I'm in a very hard water area. It took a good five minutes to get the lather right, which is why I don't use it more.
Yeah, it's worth the effort, but why spend excess time building lather when I've got other soaps/creams that lather with ease ?
I may relegate it to a bath soap - the ceramic dish will come in handy.
The SputnIk blade was still keen on it's third use. No loss in smoothness either.
