SOTD: Saturday 20th January - Friday 26th January 2018.

Greetings All,

Monday shave
Four days growth and warm shave

Preparation – Showered then face washed with Clique Liquid facial soap (mild)
Soap: Molton Brown Shaving Saap
Razor: Rockwell 6C (4P)
Blade: Lord Platinum (1st)
Brush: RazoRock 400 (face lather)

Post Shave: Hot then cold water rinse, Alum, L'Occitane Cade AS Balm (Sample) followed by Michael Kors.

Lord Platinum Test
Day 1

Current rankings:
1. Shark SS
2. Gillette Nacet
3. Astra SP
4. Perma-Sharp Super

This morning, I decided I would do a back to back comparison of the Lord Platinum and Lord Super Chrome, starting with the Platinum. I gave the razor an initiation with four days' worth of whiskers. The Lord Platinum felt smooth and very mild, to the point it had issues hacking through my whiskers on the first pass (not sure if this was also due the razor becoming clogged, which is a first). The 2nd and 3rd passes went without issue and I felt as though I could do a lot of buffing with this blade and not get any irritation. The Alum test proved this with very little feedback. BBS - not quite, but still a pleasant shave.

Overall, a very good debut for Lord Platinum, my only concern is longevity. With the blade being this mild, whether it will still perform after a few shaves.

Cheers,

Brian

Prep ~ Shower, Mysore Sandlewood Soap
Razor ~ Hone Type 15
Blade ~ KAI Stainless
Soap ~ LPL Oud Santal
Brush ~ SOC Badger
Post ~ Antica Barbieria Colla Aprcot Aftershave
Scent ~ Guerlain Santal Royal EDP

Wow, what a shave, the KAI blade is the blade that for me works best in the Hone and together they gave me a superb shave.
The LPL soap with tallow is outstanding, really slick and protective and although the non tallow LPL soaps are great this tallow version is way better.
The Santal Royal EDP from Guerlain was the perfect finnish.

Wishing you all a happy Monday.......:) P.

Thought I'd take a break from the Mongoose and went for a razor which I knew would deliver the goods efficiently and smoothly.
A great start to the week.

Pre: Valobra Glycerlanolina soap, Castle Forbes pre-shave gel
Brush: DR Harris H3 Best Badger
Soap: Haslinger Schafmilch
Razor: UFO Tornado / Colonial General
Blade: Kamisori (2)
Post: Myrsol Emulsion
Scent: APR Lixiviant

Despite gorgeous lather from the Haslinger, the Kamisori was again unfriendly. Much preferred the Feather Pro. Will try other blades to find best match.
The Emulsion only just managed to calm my skin - I was almost reaching for the Thayer's Topical Pain Reliever.

Vulfix 404 mixed
Vitos Super Red
Schick N1
Schick Proline [ 5 ]
Pitralon Original A/S Lotion

Have recently been using the Schick AC Blade in different Injectors, including those manufactured to take Twin blades. Not only do they work well in dedicated single blade razors, but they are proving to be excellent as an alternative to a Twin blade.

This is my Fifth outing with the NI and a Schick AC blade. As usual the Shave is very smooth and comfortable, with an excellent close all round finish being attained. Look forward to seeing how a Twin Blade works out in this Razor.

Pre: Valobra Glycerlanolina soap, Castle Forbes pre-shave gel
Brush: DR Harris H3 Best Badger
Soap: Creed Green Irish Tweed
Razor: UFO Tornado / Colonial General
Blade: Kai Captain Titan Protouch (1)
Post: Myrsol Emulsion
EdT: Dior Eau Sauvage

Still catching up on my SOTD posts. This is the latest. Had to grab the Creed soap - an opportunistic buy at a very good price. It is a very hard soap - probably the hardest I have lathered with. Triple-milled? Seems they put this through the mill five times ;). The scent from the soap was nothing short of spectacular. I was expecting it to be a bit muted (I found this with the Acqua di Parma soap), but it was long. strong, and every inch GIT. I did not have high expectations regarding performance, as I had read negative reviews for Creed soaps in this regard. I was pleasantly surprised. Not as much residual slickness as I like, but nice lather, a comfortable shave and a lovely post-shave feel. The performance of the soap reminded me of SV or Osma. Can it justify its price? Pretty tough from my viewpoint, but it certainly ticked plenty of boxes.
My first shave with the Kai Captain Titan, and it was a welcome relief from the previous Kamisori blade. Three passes and a few buffs and I am BBS and grinning :D.
What better way to finish than a few squirts of Eau Sauvage, a very nice match with the GIT.

Yaqi Sagrada Familia
Merkur Mergress
Gillette Stainless (2)
Stirling Soaps Ozark Mountain
Alum Block, Nivea Balm & Superdrug Forest Fresh

As expected the blade felt more comfortable today, had a great clean shave but a little tingle from the alum so maybe a little too close in places, no weepers or irritation that I noticed. Really love using Stirling soaps, never fail to perform and I think this one has to be my favourite.

Monday's SOTD :)

Pre-shave - Warm shower, Wright's Cold Tar Soap face wash, followed by BBA Pre-shave Oil..
Razor - Colonial Razors - The General, SS.
Blade - Kai Captain Titan Mild Pink (Day 8).
Soap - OSP Sicilian Lemon Grove Cream.
Bowl - Little Wren.
Brush - Omega (Boar) 011829.
Post shave - Cold Water Splash, Boots Which Hazel followed by Ibiza Aloe Aloe Vera Gel.

A very enjoyable 2 pass shave this morning, with no issues to report. Its been a while since I used the OSP Sicilian Lemon Grove Cream. This produced a very nice lather, in terms of protection, glide and scent. The Omega (Boar) brush is still breaking-in and it seemed to take an age to get the lather going. However, once ready, everything was good.

I had been away traveling, since last Thursday. On my travels I made use of the Hone-15a and Gillette 7 O'clock Yellow's with Prorasso (Green) Shaving Soap with the accompanying Pre-shave creams.

Some excellent shaves, whilst away - however needed a 3 pass with touch-ups to get a decent shave, where as with an SE blade, that would fall into 2 pass territory (YMMV :) ).

It was good to use the Hone razor again, my brother in-law was quite impressed, and could be tempted to take up wet shaving, moving away from electric.

All the best,

Chris
