SOTD: Saturday 20th January - Friday 26th January 2018.

Sunday

Soap - OSP Fougére
Brush - RazoRock BC
Face lather
Razor - Gem MMOC
Blade - Gem SS
Post - Thayer's Rose Petal and Aloe Vera
After shave - Floïd MV

A belter of a Sunday shave. The MMOC is a tremendously efficient razor; leaving me BBS after 3 lovely passes. The OSP delivered its usual protective tallowy goodness; with a great post-shave feel. A splash of the Mentally Vigorous and I'm good to go.

Super shave set up..Every wet shaver should experience a generous splash of the Mentally Vigorous! ;).. Floïd MV is one of my favourite A/S splashes.

Pre: Warm water face wash
Brush: Omega 11137 Boar
Soap: Lea Classic
Razor: Mongoose (on loan)
Blade: Schick Proline P
Post: Warm then cold water rinse, Lea Classic ASIMG_20180121_135752.jpg
Second go with the Mongoose and it was a better experience but I'm still not completely won over.
Maybe a Feather Pro or Pro Super would work better as I found it inefficient in the problem areas.
I resisted the temptation to apply pressure but the extra passes and pick ups have left my skin a teeny bit irritated.

Prep: Hot shower and Neutrogena face wash
Pre: Bloom water
Razor: Timeless 0.95 fual baseplate (on loan)
Razor blade: Polsilver (2)
Brush: Saponificio Varesino 2.0
Soap: Saponificio Varesino Felce Aromatica
Post: Thayers witch hazel and Myrsol Emulsion

Much better results with the 0.95 baseplate. A very light touch is required with this razor. It did bite me once on the chin (luckily I've got another five ;)).
3 passes with a couple of touch-ups, no hint of irritation and a very close shave.

Thanks to James AKA @Acer89 for the loan of the razor.

Have a good week gents. Onwards and upwards.

Cheers
Rob

A Sunday morning quickie.....

Pre-work shave, Sunday the 21st of January.

OK, it's one of those mornings when I was slightly late getting organised for work. This includes having a shave. In order to expedite my journey out of the house - employed magic in a tube. L'Oreal non-foaming shave gel. This is the type of thing you may have received in a gift pack at X-mas. I know I did.

Essentially no brush needed. Plus, the trick is to remember where you have rubbed the stuff. It comes out of the tube black, but turns clear when rubbed onto the face. Wowsers, mind blown;) Two pass shave, and it's absolutely fine. I guess an alternative to gel or foam in a can. Nice smooth, and quick shave.

Razor - Merkur 45 (c?)
Blade - Wilkinson Sword (3)
Gel - L'oreal non-foaming shave gel.

Nice to make use of items in a vintage grooming kit and when I found a stick of Palmolive hidden in the back of of my shaving soap draw I thought result. It was also rather nice to be reintroduced to such a well performing soap. I'll now keep it closer to the front.

Good morning.....i need that soap in my life....may i ask where you got it?
I bought the soap from their website: https://prohibition-style.myshopify.com/ I enjoyed the soap base but I did not care for the scent so I will be moving it along. If you're interested, send me a PM; I also have their South Side Fizz soap that I also plan on moving along. I can guarantee a much better price than you'll get from the website ;)

Sunday 21st Jan

Omega 10005 boar
Tabac Soap
Schick Type O Clone
Schick Proline [ 6 ]
Tabac A/S Lotion

Another Sunday out, so settled for what is one of my most dependable Injectors. It might be a modern copy but those who have used the Schick O Clone, will verify how good it is.

I am currently running it with a Single Blade, and it so easy to use to get an incredibly smooth and comfortable Shave, with a great close all round finish. Have to do a couple more outings
before I load it up with a Twin, which should be good.

Yup M. - what you say. I accidentally put a vintage single blade into it instead of the twin I intended when I got it and as is the way with these things it has - so far, 8 or 9 shaves with it - refused to degrade never mind die. I look forward to trying a twin - I think it could only be better than it already is. Which is pretty damn good. A close comfortable shave every time with the Clone - I'm at a loss to understand how you could draw blood with one of these razors. You'd need to be massively clumsy. cheers - I.
