SOTD : Saturday 1st September - Friday 7th September 2018.

SOTD 02 September 2018

Pre-shave: Warm shower, Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cleaner and cold water splash.
Soap: OSP Bayrum.
Brush: Simpsons The Duke 2 Pure Badger.
Bowl: Via Barberia, by Omega.
Razor: Blackland Dart.
Blade: Muhle DE (Day 2).
Post: Cold water splash and D.R. Harris Bayrum Aftershave.

02-Sep-2018.jpg

After an excellent 3 pass shave on Saturday with the Fatip, loaded with a Gillette Silver Blue, I opted for a 2 pass shave today - I felt anyting more would be greedy and run the risk of skin irritation.

The Dart was pre-loaded with a Muhle blade, from its last run out. I find the Muhle blade to be quite decent, especially for me in the Rocca and the R41. However, today every onw and then it felt ever so slightly scratchy in the Dart.

A DFS + BBS- shave with no issues.

All the best,

Chris

Prep: Hot shower with with Bulldog Original face wash then a small amount of lather rubbed into my stubble
Cream: Alvarez Gomez Barberia
Brush: Executive Shaving Medium Jock synthetic
Razor:Merkur 34c
Blade: Gillette Super Stainless (2)
Post: Cold rinse, Thayers Witch Hazel with Cucumber followed by Boots Freshwood aftershave then Alvarez Gomez Barberia balm (sample....now finished [emoji30]).

I'm off to pastures new tomorrow. Still doing the same job but starting/joining a new team. I‘d like to set a good example, so tonight wanted a good shave. I did think about doing it tomorrow morning, but I don't like leaving things to the last minute, just in case Murphy's Law decides to make an appearance!

I started with the Bulldog Original face wash which SWMBO bought me yesterday. It certainly leaves my face feeling clean but the scent is very clinical. Very antiseptic and plastic. It performs well, the scent just isn't to my liking.

I then lathered up the Alvarez Gomez Barberia cream which is the best of the soaps/creams I have. I was introduced to this by The Executive Shaving Company, with @Digimonkey then kindly gifting me a tub after he saw my enthusiasm with it. The scent is really nice with a good citrusy tone. The glide it gives the razor is excellent and the slickness after each pass is really noticeable. If I don't wash my hands before the next pass I can't hold the razor!

I used a small amount of lather as a pre shave and rubbed this into my stubble. Then lathered with the brush for a good few minutes. Simple and enjoyable with the scent.

The 3 pass shave went without incident - WTG, XTG and ATG. I good finish which I'm really happy with. No concerns for tomorrow!

A face wash with the left over lather, tidy up, cold rinse then splash of Thayers. My skin was feeling tight, smooth and refreshed. A quick splash with Boots Freshwood aftershave then the remnants of my Alvarez Gomez Barberia balm sample and I was done. I'm defo getting more of this balm as it matches the lather in performance, and more importantly scent.

A good happy shave with a good smooth result. Roll on a new start tomorrow.

All the best folks. [emoji482]

Sunday evening...

Cyril R. Salter tallow
RazoRock BC Silvertip 24mm synth
Face lather
Fa Tip Piccolo
Gillette Rubie #1
Thayer's Cucumber and Aloe Vera
Floïd Mentally Vigorous after shave

Smooth as you like. 2 days growth ploughed away with the incredibly efficient Piccolo and Rubie combo. I'm still amazed at the quality of Salter's tallow soap. Rich and thick, with a great post shave feel. A liberal dose of the Mentally Vigorous to seal the deal.

Pre: Sainsburys Tea Tree Cleansing Bar

A contrasting shave. Lea soap never performed for me (it got sent to the shower due to collapsing lather and poor cushion), unfortunately the Vie Long shave stick from the same manufacturer shares these traits for me. The Balea brush at £5.60 (in DM Drugstores in Budapest and I presume elsewhere in Europe) is a great little performer which utilises Muhle Black Fibre. I'm now on shave 5 with the NOS Med Preps I mentioned here: https://theshavingroom.co.uk/community/index.php?threads/nos-personna-med-preps.48166// and it's still going strong. Maybe a very good blade from the 1980's lurking in disguise?
