Greetings,

A near wilkinson sword shave set up...Wilkinson sword shaving products have stood the test of time, these humble in-expensive products have always performed & gave good acceptable shaving results, today was no exception..The Bolzano Superinox on it's 7th outing, still performed with efficiency, which has totally amazed me with it's sharp smooth longivity..I'm going to continue using it to see how many shaves i can get from it. An amazing blade, the best i've used to date for longivity.

Another relaxing Sunday 3 pass + pick ups DFS shave with no errors to report..The brut oceans ASL is near the end of it's usage, after 1.5 years, which is a great value for money ASL, i have a fondness for brut ASL fragrances.. Oceans is one of my faves, along with Attraction Totale.

Finishing the shave off with a generous dollop of Asda ~ Kind & Gentle Light Moisturiser.

My face is feeling smooth & smelling devine.

Sotd - Saturday the 19th of January -

Razor - ATT Calypso SE 'Maria'
blade - Proline (4)
brush - Semogue 1305 boar
soap - MT Black Beer No.1
post - Witch hazel
a/s - Myrsol Agua Balsamica
balm - Weleda
scent - Caldey Abbey Lavender.

Result - a shave of two halves -

The good bit -
Six days growth coming off - a long overdue shave. The Black Beer soap is perfect for a dark dreich Scottish day - it is strangely uplifting - which I assume is down to the large amount of rosemary oil in the formula. Dark, spicy and medicinal - lovely. It - in my opinion - pairs beautifully with the Myrsol Balsamica - continuing the herbal vibe. Ditto the Weleda balm - I'm not super keen on the scent - but that is not really what it is for - you can't argue with the skin feel though. Topped off with the Caldey Island lavender - a lovely masculine lavender/musk - my only wish was it projected a bit better and lasted longer.

The not so good bit -
I need to keep the dressing on my damaged thumb dry - so had to wash and shave wearing one latex glove. At best - an unpleasant experience - at worst - deeply sinister looking - as if you are planning a game of 'junior customs officer' - getting medieval on some poor unfortunate Colombian drug mule. Not nice. It also reminded me - how important the tactile element of a shave is - I realised that I constantly check progress with my left hand for any remaining stubble - which you cannot feel through a glove. Rinsing your face and applying aftershave with one 'plastic' hand is horrible. I got there in the end - it'll teach me to pay attention in the future using razor sharp kitchen knives.

I hope all your shaves are significantly better - one and all - yours - I.
