Things are getting better and better as I wade through the murky depths of SE shaving.

An incident free 3 pass shave followed by a few pickups. Result - BBS everywhere.

I'm happy that I'm becoming accustomed to the Hawk's feel and angle. The more I use it the better the shaves are becoming. The better the shave become the more I enjoy the challenge of bettering it next time!

This will be another night that I won't be able to stop stroking my face and saying “Get it up ye!”.

This weekend I'll probably return to my Rockwell 6c just to keep my DE razors employed.

By the way, did I say “Get it up ye!”?

Hope you're all having a great week and tomorrow's Friday!

Sotd - today - 24th of January -

Razor - Gem 1912 British
blade - Vintage Corrux (1)
brush - Simpsons Chubby 1 best
soap - P&B Denali
post - witch hazel
a/s - Alcolado Glacial
balm - Vifrex gel.

Result - chilly and no mistake.

As has become something of a tradition for me - the first snow of the winter is matched by a ne plus ultra menthol shave. It melted fairly soon but it is still proper cold in Glasgow. From stock in the den the soap choice normally comes down to either Denali or MT - Mint Ice Menthol - an honourable mention should go to the Williams Ice Fresh cream - considering the price differential - it doesn't fall far behind in any respect by comparison. Highly recommended. An absolute pleasure to use the 1912 for the first time in ages - a superb shave - I love the noise these things make - a deeply satisfying rasping - you know that you are shaving - and when it all goes silent - that's you - job done. They look awkward to use - but this is not my experience. A good rub down with the Glacial and a top coat of Vifrex menthol gel - bbs in two passes - if a bit snottery - 'Mummy - why is that man crying?' I suppose if I wasn't a pussy - I'd have used cold water to shave - but I have my limits. In my own defense - I also shaved my head with double 0 clippers. Off into the dawn well awake - better than coffee. Enjoy your shaves as much - one and all - yours - I.

Oh - @culcreuch - B. - I meant to say to you earlier in the week - re MWF/Kent hard soap - I would agree with you - I think these two products are the same thing with different packaging. The look, smell, lather and perform identically for me - the ingredients list matches. The Kent is a wee bit cheaper - that's about the only difference I could mention. Both top end either way.

That is good to hear. I have just used Kent soap for the first time this evening and absolutely excellent. I will write up in the morning as a few glasses of white wine are having a bigger say in this evenings activities. And I surprise myself I can actually remain to spell correctly at the moment without the need for 'spell check'.

Iain....the wee bit cheaper ....and the fact that I can buy it locally means I will continue to use it. The Fat is the only soap I continue to replace
