excellent shave today I'm smoother than the prince's bald patch :D first use of a Bolzano blade no tugging on the first pass so very sharp but not uncomfortable I'm expecting it to feel even better on its second use like all blades do for me all in all a very good blade , haven't used the tundra artica for a while what a scent lovely not my favourite out of the sv soaps Manna di Sicilia is but this ones definitely up there ...... Have a nice Day Folks and Enjoy Your Shaves :)

What a belter Iain, I'll have to scour the second hand shops for a cap, for doffing purposes.
Is this the first time a potential weapon has been mentioned? I fear this is escalating rapidly.
"Step away from the spoon!" ;)
No Barry, a macuahuitl, another obsidian weapon, has been previously mentioned.

Sotd - Wednesday 22/11 -

Razor - Schick Type O clone
blade - mystery vintage single (2)
brush - Semogue 2015 HD
soap - SV Tundra Artica
post - witch hazel
a/s - Nivea 2 phase
balm - none, didn't need it.

Result - magnificent.

In part this shave was about what I didn't use - I have next to me as I type an astonishingly beautiful 1912 'Made in England' version - thanks P. In its Bakelite case. Pristine. I was kindly gifted earlier this year an American 1912 by @Wayne Pritchard and it proved to be my 'gateway drug' into vintage single edges. They are very good for me. I thought I would try a bit of delayed gratification - something I'm ordinarily very poor at achieving - and use my Type O clone again - which is also new, the second shave with it - I wanted to see what would happen with a heavier growth - 4 days. Just the same as last time - very mild in use but extremely effective. A wee bit of polishing after the second pass but it's so comfortable to use that it didn't irritate my skin whatsoever. I think you would have to be massively clumsy to draw blood with it. The brush was my first silver tip - it amuses me these days about the HD bit in its name - high density. Oh really? Compared to a Maseto 30mm or Chubby - I think not. I still enjoy using it when in the mood for a floppy wall of super soft badger hair though. A bit of nostalgia too. I'd forgotten how good the SV soap is - I reached for it again as I was having trouble coming up with my hard soap of the year. I wanted to revisit this and a Wickam's 1912 before voting. Tabac and O.S.P were the obvious front runners for me. The post shave feel of the SV is really top end - paired with the Nivea 2 phase I really really didn't need a balm. So - top end shave - count me as a happy bunny. Good to hear you back on the hard stuff (SV). ;):p

Yaqi Sagrada Familia
Schick Krona
Shark SS (2)
I Coloniali Mango Oil Shaving Soap
Thayers Rose, Myrsol Emulsion & Dior Sauvage

Looked forward to this shave so much and the use some of my absolute favourites. Face lathered for a change purely due to the thread asking what people prefer, my first time face lathering with a synthetic and it was pretty good in all honesty, I do find the I Coloniali isn't a truly thick lather but I had more than enough for all my passes. Could I do it daily? I don't know, I quite enjoy using a bowl and its only an extra few seconds to clean up. The Shark was very good in the Krona, the blade is growing on me.

Olive Oil Soap
Vitos Preshave Cream
P&B Obsidian Soap
Yaqi Black and White 24mm Synthetic Brush
Junker #171 13/16 Razor
Alum Block and Rinse
Jojoba Golden oil
Dolce & Gabbana the one EDT

Post night duty shave and I decided to take my time and enjoy! Three passes for a wonderful 3 pass BBS shave

Pre: Warm water face wash
Brush: Semogue 2000 Boar
Soap: S.V. Felce Aromatica (sample)
Razor: ATT R2 (on loan)
Blade: Astra SP
Post: Warm then cold water rinse, Homemade Skinfood
IMG_20171123_163059.jpg

Now I've become more accustomed to the R2, I thought I'd give the highly acclaimed S.V soap a go. The sample was kindly gifted to me by the owner of this wonderful razor, Rob aka @Blackmass.
The soap took a bit of effort to work into a lather, but it was worth it. Great slickness and the post shave is up there with MWF. The scent's familiar but I can't place it, not my favourite scent but not off-putting, and I'd grow to like it.
I was left as smooth as a Comerson's Dolphin calf, which had been drip-fed the finest Sperm Whale oil for the first three months of its life, and then given a daily polish (Ambergris on - Ambergris off) by Daniel LaRusso for a week.

Blade: Proline #1
Razor: Schick Injector
Brush: Maseto 30mm Silvertip
Soap: Wholly Kaw Almond
Post: Alum & Thayers Witch Hazel
EDT: L'Occitaine Cade

The jury is still open as far as I am concerned with the first time use of this razor. The light plastic handle did not help my case. I also want to try it again with more concentration on the angle required. An aggressive little madam that I am sure can bite but I am blemish free today.
Light irritation to my neck from the Alum and the final outcome was certainly not the best shave I have ever had. DFS overall from a 3 pass shave.

Brush is not shedding as much but still lost a few hairs and the soap felt a little sticky on the face between passes.
Again I need to dial it in better for my next use.

Finished off with the Cade that matched quite well with the soap.

Enjoy your shaves! :)
