First DE Shave of 2018
These days tend to Shave with modern/Vintage SE/Injectors, as I find them more forgiving than DE Razors.
I decided that as I was not in a rush to keep my hand in with DE Shave.I really did concentrate
on my technique to avoid silly mishaps. I selected a low 2:5 - 3 setting as I know that suits me and my beard. Very pleased that my care was rewarded by no mishaps and a rather excellent close Shave.

Evening shave

Lucky Tiger Face Scrub
Le Pere Lucien Traditional
Omega 20102 Boar
Little Wren Pottery
Brass General
Feather Pro Super (3)
OSP Barbershop Aftershave Tonic

Third use of the Pro Super and a terrific shave was had. The blade has smoothed out now but it remains very efficient. Kevin (@Boru62) and I wondered whether it is extremely sharp or just feels that way because of the increased blade exposure. Whatever, that was a very comfortable, very close shave. I hope you have a good week chaps.

And for this evening's shave the theme was 'The Timeless Lego Movie'

Lights, camera, action

When I wrote 'what a beautiful razor' on the BST thread of Sr Looney12345 selling his Timeless razor I never quite expected to be the owner of said object of desire, but temptation got the better of me. As I PM'd him, 'this is a razor I want to sit at the side of the sink and stare at'. Fortunately I resisted the staring and actually got around to using it. I will write elsewhere my thoughts on the razor but all I can say is 'What a Wonderful Life'. It is heaven in stainless steel.

The cream again another 'temptation of Chris' with OSP stupidly offering an Easter carrot of 25% off their creams. I must be a donkey. As I wrote to James at OSP; I found the fragrance a little strange at first but I have warmed to it after a number of uses and the scent does last further than the plughole. It also happens to be a nice base for my ADP colognes which I dearly love. Other than that a wonderful satisfying cream which performs its heart out. Everything it says on the plastic tub.

Because of my love for ADP I decided the fragrance for this evening was to be Penhaligon's Blenheim Bouquet. Despite it lasting a little further than the plughole but not much further than the bottom of the stairs I do love its zesty sharp tones and flavours.

Altogether an Oscar winning performance this evening and a real red carpet of a shave. I walk away from the shaving stage (read sink) a happy man with a terrifically film star smooth appeal

SOTD Sunday 15 April 2018 :)

I had an early start today - away with SWMBO for some hill walking - I went for the same shave set up as Saturday

Pre-shave - Warm shower, Musgo Real Classic Glycerin Oil Soap, followed by warm water splash.
Cream - Murdock Avalon.
Brush - Muhle Purist Silvertip Fibre.
Bowl - Little Wren Pottery.
Razor - Muhle R41.
Blade - Muhle DE (Day 2).
Post shave - Cold water splash; followed by OSP Neroli Splash and Clinique Post Shave Balm.

A great 2 pass shave - the smallest weeper on my chin, I shaved on bear/lather free skin between passes - no issues cold water did the trick, however a reminder to shave the lather every time :)

I am enjoying shaving with the R41 as I get more comfortable with this razor and thus far, experiencing great results.

All the best,

Chris

Razor - Rockwell 6c (2)
blade - Polsilver SI (6 and out)
brush - Simpsons P8 Phyl LE
soap - OSP Sicilian Lemon Grove cream
post - witch hazel
a/s - OSP Lemon and Cedarwood
balm - BBA
scent - Creed Bois de Portugal parfum.

Result - top end - the sort of endy topness that suggests it studied at St.Top-Ends college Cambridge. Getting a First.

An odd thing happened when I left home today - there was a strange shiny orb in the sky - it seemed to radiate heat. What was it? The afterburner of an alien spacecraft - who knows - no need to worry - I'll probably never see it again. Ha ha - Spring might indeed have sprung in Glasgow. Took its fu****g time. I really didn't need to shave today - but I couldn't resist - I've just been enjoying my shaves so much recently. God bless the Rockwell - it has redefined for me - how good a de razor can be. Backed up by the OSP software - I've yet to meet one of their products that wasn't exemplary. Job done - sod the ADP let's go for the real deal - Creed. I smell gorgeous - and still do - not my opinion - I was told so - but I happen to agree. Expensive but worth every penny. Certain things in life should never be done cheaply. Scent is one of them. Modesty and decency forbid me suggesting the others. Enjoy your shaves gentlemen and the week ahead - yours I.

Short rant ahoy - I had to plan my day around there being a 'festival of hate' aka an Old Firm Game - Rangers vs Celtic at Hampden - which I live close to. Glasgow has changed dramatically in my 50 years of mostly living here. The city has successfully re-invented its self - but this sort of vile sectarian pish persists. It ought to be a historical anachronism by now. It is shameful. I kind of understood that drinking and pishing in the street, singing sectarian songs was illegal. Could somebody point that out to Police Scotland - who seem to take the approach that 'if we can't see them, they can't see us.' Sorry - rant over - it pisses me off. Self evidently. Growing up in this part of the world has largely informed my loathing of football.

@Digimonkey +1 on the OSP Sicilian Lemon Grove Cream. Hope you survived the shite fest that is an Old Firm Game. Living on the East coast we mostly miss out on all of that pish, and the rain :)

Quality write up - I enjoyed reading your piece. 'Heaven in stainless steel,' beautifully put, enjoy your new razor. I've been intrigued by the Timeless razors - copy me into your full review. I loved the description of the scent as - ' lasting a little further than the plughole but not much further,' - yup that's how it works - that's why we spend all that money on parfum. Thanks - yours - I.

Brush: Omega S10083
Soap: Meißner Tremonia Wild Woods
Razor: Vigshaving combination head (open comb side) on RazoRock bamboo SS handle
Blade: Bolzano Superinox (1)

I love this razor on a Monday morning, just cuts through the weekends growth without any fuss.

I could actually feel the blade cutting (not tugging), which might suggest that it's not as sharp as some others, but the end result is more than satisfactory (less one tiny weeper on my neck, which probably can't be attributed to the blade over my ham-fistedness).

Happy shaving, all.
