It's been a while since I've used a DE and this very efficient little piece of hardware was a good choice.
I was fortunate enough to try NOS Gillette Platinum Plus blades and bought these modern Gillettes because of the word "Platinum".
I don't know what "Plus" meant in the old blades but these blades are lacking whatever it was. I've tried worse blades but there are many better ones out there.
I really like the A&B balm, not greasy, leaves the skin both soft and toned, and the scent is a good companion to the Jermyn St. soap.
Have a great weekend everyone.

First birth year razor shave :-

After a bit of searching over the last couple of years, finally picked up a birth year razor (with the right quarter too) in very good condition. Also the first time I've used a Gillette Slim Twist. Returned to the Voskhod balde, which never fails.

A nice clean shave. Love the handle, and paired with the Voskhod no issues whatsoever. Having recently bought a Tech too - find myself enjoying the vinatge, milder razors. Having been wet shaving for 5 years, may be it's that the technique has come together. That or it's an age thing

Happy weekend and shaving gents.

Razor - Gillette Slim Twist
Blade - Voskhod (1)
Cream - GFCC - Original
Brush - Omega 10066
Balm - Arko Fresh
EDT - Hugo Boss Tonic.

Sunshine Saturday Shave

Wickham 1912 Parma Violet
YaqI 24mm Tuxedo Marble Handle
Rockwell 6C plate 5
Personna Platinum (2)
Lavender witch hazel (home mix)
Quorum Aftershave

I like the Personna Platinum blade. Plenty sharp and smooth. They seem a little thicker than other blades, which I think helps them to sit better in the razor.
My lather was a little on the thick side until I dipped the tips, a lather eruption ensued.
My usual two pass routine completed, I finished with a liberal splash of lavender witch hazel followed by Quorum Aftershave.

@pjgh , you were right out the Parma Violet soap and Quorum pairing.

Enjoy the sunshine everyone

Prep ~ Shower, Valbora Tallow Soap
Razor ~ Igor SE - On loan ( set on medium )
Blade ~ Pal Super Carbon Steel
Soap ~ Figaro P.160 Tallow
Brush ~ Omega Boar
Post ~ Thayers / Taylor's of Old Bond St (Alcohol free) Aftershave
Scent ~ Chanel - Allure Homme Edition Blanche

My first shave with this razor and I must say....it's very good indeed.
I used one of my favourite Gem style blades and paying attention to what @Boru62 had told me about the angle of attack it shaved very well. I think I would have preferred the razor to have a little more weight and the handle to be slightly longer but that aside it still delivered the goods.
The blade and the soap can't go without mention because I feel they too contributed to the wonderful shave I had. BBS and really pleased with my first use of this fab little razor. Thank you @twhite510 :)

Have a great weekend chaps. P.

Prep: Valobra Glycerlanolina soap, Baum.be pre-shave gel
Brush: Tony Forsyth P&C LE 2017 Platypus
Soap: Wholly Kaw Monaco Royale (Tallow)
Razor: UFO Goliath / ATT SE1
Blade: Schick Proline P-30 (5)
Post: Alt Innsbruck Emulsion / Cologne
Scent: Guerlain Vetiver

The Wholly Kaw soap did not disappoint - very dense and creamy lather, with top drawer slickness and residual slickness. The scent is subtle, and I agree with others that it shares some notes with Tabac. Three passes for a DFS+ - the blade was fading a little, so I skipped buffing. A very nice post-shave feel from the soap.

Razors: Eye Witness 6/8 & The Silver Ring 6/8
Brush: Omega Barbershop Synth 30mm
Soap: Stirling Barbershop
Post:Thayers Witch Hazel (Cucumber)
EDC: ACC Alvarez Gomez Barberia

Had a bit of a disastrous shave today. Firstly having stropped the "Eye Witness" I managed to roll the edge and as a result it could not cut through butter. That will teach me for watching the Horse Racing at Aintree at the same time.
Reverting to a favourite of mine the "Silver Ring" I managed two passes, a couple of weepers and have some razor burn around the neck area.

I would like to think rather than my technique I have the brush to blame.
It is off to new pastures I am afraid. I cannot get this thing to provide a decent lather and I know the Stirling Barbershop is a magnificent performer.

The shave was redeemed though after a generous helping of Alvarez Gomez Barberia.

Enjoy the Grand National to all you horse lovers and enjoy your shaves. :)

New brush, and a big brush it is. Tons of rich, slick and good smelling lather.

Lovely 3 passes yesterday. The result - BBS was very very close! Glad this one was better than the last. Valobra soap is gorgeous in terms of lather and post shave feel, but not as nice a scent as some others - I will buy again though. Gifted in a PIF and what an awesome surprise that has been.

Soho Joe Original Face Wash
Maseto 30mm silvertip
Valobra soap
F. Herder 77 square point
A little alum, although not necessary
Nivea Sensitive Post Shave Balm
Pinaud Clubman After Shave Lotion

Never used a balm then a lotion before. Just felt like it.
