SOTD : Saturday 12th May - Friday 18th May 2018.

@Blackmass

Hi Robb,

I have one from the N Batch - 0693N1.

I can't praise it highly enough - over the last year I was heavily into SE shaving, the Ambassador got me back into DE.

If it helps, I got mine from The Gentleman's Groom Room in Dundee; its handy living close by; not so good for the wallet :)

All the best,

Chris

Cheers Chris.

Yeah I've spoken with Ian from The Gentleman's Groom Room on Monday about availability and the quantity issues I've seen about the earlier versions.
After speaking with Ian and reading a long list of amendments made by the company I think the latest version could be a different shave all together.

15th May 2018.... A day late.... A lovely warm day, so opted for a cold water shave.

Pre: Bulldog face wash, cold water rinse
Brush: 24mm Yaqi Sagrada Familia synthetic
Soap: Wickhams 1912 Cashmere
Razor: EJ89 Lined Handle
Blade: Nacet (3)
Post: Cold rinse, Thayers unscented witch hazel
AS: Fine Platinum

A nice 2 pass cold water shave. Experimenting with angles on passes today.... 1st pass N to S on cheeks and face, NE to SW (Left side) and NW to SE (right side) on neck. 2nd pass ATG W to E and E to W on cheeks and face, S to N (ATG) on neck. My skin normally get a bit spotty with and ATG (S to N) on my neck but seems to be ok today. First attempt at the ATG all I managed to do was remove the top layer of shaving soap and no hair! Needed to be a tad firmer until I felt the blade cutting the hairs. Fine AS was as good as the first time I used it, left me smelling lovely ready for drills.

@Blademonkey P. - otters - no go - protected species in Europe - much like badgers - what about seal or penguin tallow? There are loads of them - we might have marketing issues though? The public - are for some reason - a bit squeamish about the animals that are killed in their name. Never understood why. What about walrus? There is a load of blubber going on there? Again marketing problems. Or maybe not? - we could all do it together - do a crowd funding thing - the honest shaving soap tallow company - who's with me? - ha ha - I.

...I did wonder about Panda brushes!

16/5/18

Brush - Yaqi Fan Tux
Soap - Lea Tallow stick
Razor - Old Type
Blade - Shark Super Chrome (3)
Post - Witch Hazel/Nivea Balm
AS - Brut Oceans

Even though my technique with OC razors has improved greatly, I still struggle to coax out a comfortable shave with an Old Type - there just seems to be too much blade feel on the face and irrespective of blade choice the shave always seems to lack the smoothness & efficiency of other OC razors in my rotation.
