The Big Shave 11th November 2017

Todays big shave I am mixing it up a little. I have been using wedges and near wedges for a while BUT about a month ago I bought a beautiful 11/16” Custom Bellied Full Hollow from Victor Creazzi - his website details are included in the video and below. Victor's razor was so sharp and comfortable that I did a 4-pass shave. ZERO razor burn - just wonderful.

Victor's blades can be found at http://www.bluesmanblades.com

BTW De Vergulde Hand in Dutch translates to The Gilded Hand

Chemicals
PREP Pre-Shave Cream
Portugal 4711 Eau De Cologne
Razorock Alum Block
De Vergulde Hand Puck Soap from Amsterdam

Mechanicals
Semogue Boar Brush
Victor Creazzi 11/16” Bellied Full Hollow Custom
Lathered in the pot - no shaving bowl!
Very nice.

Sunday's shave.

Pre-shave - Warm shower, hot water splash
Razor - Hone 15a.
Blade - Gillette Silver Blue (Day 1).
Soap - Essence of Scotland Sweet Gale Traditional Shaving Soap.
Bowl - Little Wren.
Brush - Omega Barbour Pole Synthetic.
Post shave - Myrsol Formula K, followed by Kiehl's Creme de Corps.

Away for the weekend, good to shave with the Hone 15a again. A very enjoyable 2 pass shave.

Forgot to take a moisturiser, nicked some of the Mrs Kiehl's Creme de Corps, which worked out very well - good stuff, although, it took some time to absorb into the skin.

All the best,

Chris

Sotd - 12/11

Razor - Gem MMOC brass
blade - ER Corrux (lost count)
brush - Semogue 1305
soap - RazoRock Puros tallow
post - Witch hazel
a/s - Extro Tabacco
balm - BBA
scent - Creed Tabarome.

Result - lovely. Everything a shave should be and nothing it shouldn't.

This razor has quickly become one of my favourites. I'd got the impression that - and indeed been directly warned by the seller - it could be a little 'feisty.' This has not been my experience of it. I have never felt concerned using it. It's heavy - so let gravity and the blade do their thing. I'm used to using a Cobra so maybe that's a factor - now, the old model R41 - there was a razor that scared me. I have brushes of different types - badger, horse, boar and mixed - at widely differing price points but I think I will always keep a 1305 in rotation. Mine is now properly broken in - split tips aplenty - took a while. It's as effective and enjoyable in use as brushes that cost me well over a £100 more. The Extro Tabacco and the Creed work well together for me. Where one scent leaves off the other picks up. Enjoy your shaves gentlemen - cheers - I.

+1 on the R41 :-o

OSP Barber Shop soap
RazoRock 400
Ever Ready 1912
Gem Stainless (1)
Lime witch hazel mixture
4711 Aftershave

This was my first shave with the 1912
I took it easy not knowing quite how the shave would go. Finding the right angle was easy so I gained confidence quite quickly
The shave wasn't as smooth as I had expected it to be but I blame this partly on my lather not being as good as it could have been and the lack of prep.
Even so, two days growth was removed with three passes and the result is BBS.
I'll make sure I prep before my next shave with this razor.
