Blade: Gem SS #4
Razor: Gem MMOC
Soap: P&B Volupta
Brush: Black Anvil 24mm HMW Custom
POST: Thayers With Hazel
EDT: Ferrari Bright Neroli

The sun is out so I jumped at the chance to use the Volupta soap.
Outstanding performance and the scent is divine.

My 3rd use of the High Mountain White and I must say I am over the moon with it. The tips are cloud soft and the flow through is superb while retaining sufficient backbone.

The Gem Micro-Matic is my favourite Open Comb razor to date and never fails to give me a super smooth, irritation free shave.

Finished with some Witch hazel and a generous helping of the glorious Ferrari.

Enjoy your shaves! :)

13/3/18

Brush - Omega 80265
Soap - Palmolive Stick
Razor - Lord L6
Blade - Voskhod
AS - Superdrug Forest Fresh
Post - Nivea Balm

I used the Vosk in a Yaqi DOC yesterday which didn't work as well as the blade in the Lord L6. Yesterday's shave was the first time I had used a Vosk in for a while, and I forgot they are blades that are very sensitive to shaving angle and seem to be quite tuggy for the first pass but produce great results nonetheless.

FIRST SHAVE with the unused 1965 Old Spice mug and Soap. It was looking at me for 2 months just asking to be used. Not much of a scent but still performed well.

Sotd - Tuesday 13th March

Razor - Schick I1
blade - Japanese market twin (lost count)
brush - Simpsons Wee Scot LE tortoiseshell
soap - Salter Lavender tallow
post - witch hazel
a/s - Nivea Cool alcohol free
balm - Bart's Lavender lotion.

Result - great stuff.

That was a really good shave - a couple of new products that I had been looking forward to trying. The Salter tallow hard soap did not disappoint - I bloomed it while showering - I think I'm going to do this as default with this type of soap, it does seem to make a difference - it fits perfectly in an empty Proraso 75ml tub, thanks for the tip @Blademonkey - it lathered like a dream straight off. Granted I am using water about as soft as you can get in Britain - but it wasn't hissy about getting the right amount of moisture - it just worked. The slickness was top end - as was the lather stability - it was the right sort of lavender scent for me - medicinal and herby - not the strongest as others have pointed out but I could smell and enjoy it during the shave. It's better - in my opinion - than the Kent/MWF I bought at the same time. I chose a deliberately neutral smelling splash - so I could fairly judge my first use of one of Neil's lotions. As with the balm - consider me impressed - well impressed. As he said - stronger scented than the balm - really nice - again the right sort of lavender for me. I was a little surprised by how liquid it was - it goes on quite oily - no great surprise as it is made almost exclusively of argan and coconut oil with lavender essential oil. I had to wash my hands after applying it. It absorbs quickly - non-greasy, no shine. A couple of hours after application my skin still feels fantastic. Moisturised and supple. I would recommend both the soap and the lotion to you - if they sound like your sort of thing. The only slight dark cloud over the day was finding the 'red card of disappointment' behind the door from Royal Mail. Damn. At least I was actually out - unlike the usual - a black clad ninja silently descends a silken thread - as you wait hopefully for your parcel - glances at your front door and noiselessly leaves the card saying they had tried to deliver. Sorting office tomorrow then. My Gibbs come back home, a Chubby One best and a box of mixed shaving porn from Connaught. Delayed gratification is healthy I believe. Enjoy your shaves one and all - yours - I.

@BartsBalm
I knew you would love the Salter soap, how could you not! :) I don't personally bloom this soap and get great results but whatever works for you works for you, it's all good :)
I absolutely agree with everything you say about Neil's AS lotion, I have two including the lavender and will be certanly be buying more of the Aftershave range, top stuff.
Great write up, as ever. P.

Really enjoy your writing Iain....Letters from America comes to mind. Perhaps you could do a Shaving North of Hadrian's Wall type thingie?

Shave of the Day 13 March 2018 :)

Pre-shave - Warm shower, face wash Musgo Real Classic Glycerin Oil Soap, followed by warm water splash.
Cream - OSP Barbershop.
Brush - Simpsons Chubby 2 Synthetic.
Bowl - Little Wren Pottery.
Razor - Colonial The General SS.
Blade - Proline P-30 (day 3).
Post shave - OSP Barbershop Aftershave Splash.

IMG_1081.JPG

On Saturday, I shaved with the above set-up, however, it was my first use of the Proline P-30; what a blade - sharp and very smooth, a nice step up from the Kai Captain (Mild) Pink :)

Went for a 3 pass shave on Saturday - BBS with no issues, delighted with the shave. The shave was so good that I only needed a single pass shave on the Sunday.

The OSP Barbershop Cream also did not dissapoint; its excellent in every respect. As always YMMV :)

Just realised - I used the wrong pack of blades when composing and taking the photograph; should have been the P-30's :)

All the best,

Chris
