"I've known you for a long time but I've just begun to care" (Michael Nesmith "Propinquity").

Rotbart #15 / BIC Chromium (2). A near BBS single pass DE head shave pretty much qualifies any razor and blade combination for Cooperstown. I was not expecting that kind of shave from this razor, though it would not surprise if most of my other hall of fame shaves were with a BIC on second use (sharper than a Feather on first use).

My educated guess is that the razor dates from +/- 1948, based upon the decrepit tin box it was living in and the lack of DRGM markings. That rusty box I'm sure in part contributing to the destruction of the plating on all but the (brass) top cap. The Zamak bottom plate/guard means a replate is not possible but a Gunkote from North Shore or Delta Echo might be. Suggestions welcomed.

Pre: Valobra Glycerlanolina soap, Castle Forbes pre-shave gel
Brush: Semogue Owners Club Boar
Soap: Squadron Soaps The Warden
Razor: ATT SE1 Kronos
Blade: Schick Proline P-30 (6)
Post: Myrsol Emulsion / Thayers Superhazel
EdT: Knize Ten

Three passes and a buff or two for BBS. No irritation, but I could feel that the blade was starting to deteriorate towards the end of the shave, so change-out time.
I really enjoy Squadron soaps - The Warden is probably my favourite. Loads of tallowy slick lather, and a generous dose of Lanolin for a luxurious post-shave feel. The scent is well balanced and masculine - to quote the maker: "A masculine smelling blend of citrusy bergamot, with a bold strong base of vetiver, cinnamon bark, cedarwood and tobacco leaf."

Turn that bloody light out!!!!

Schick E2-Canada
Schick Proline ( 5 )
Tuff Green A/S lotion

This E2 is a lot more forgiving than its USA counterpart, with a nice degree of blade feel quite efficient but not harsh. Normally I find this brush a bit large but it worked very well with the soap to produce a good lather. Overall this was a good Shave, with a close all round Shave being attained with ease and no need for Alum as might be expected when using an E2. It looks like this Razor could be vying with the PAL Injector Matic as one of favourite Injectors ( using a single blade )

See you tomorrow …

Charcoal Soap
Imperial Leather (Vintage) Shaving Soap & Ever Ready 500BN 'Badgerlon' w/Muhle Silvertip Fibre
GEM Junior Parade & GEM Stainless (1)
Two Pass WTG
Denim Aftershave (Vintage)
Armani Pour Homme EDT
Pinaud Eau de Portugal Hair Tonic

Unsure as to whether I was simply out of practice, whether stubble was longer than usual or whether the mildness of the American GEM came into play, but I needed two passes rather than my usual "one pass 1912 shave".

Lovely gear and a much enjoyed shave.

I think I'll have a run through with some of these American GEMs. I have a couple of contract GEM Juniors, this Parade and a 'New Improved' Ever-Ready from the same era.

Pre-shave:- Cold Water straight from the tap
Brush:- Brush:- Maseto 2 Band Finest Badger Black Beehive 30/55mm knot
Soap/Cream:- Route 66 ~ The Black Pearl
Bowl/Scuttle:- Captain's Choice
Razor:- GEM Micromatic Open Comb
Blade:- GEM Personna SS PTFE Coated #1
Post-shave:- Thayers Witch Hazel & Tea Tree Oil / Lucky Tiger Aftershave & Face Tonic
Fragrance:- Hugo Boss (Original)

Holy GEM Micromatic Open Comb this razor got some serious edge feel and smooth which is far better than the Bullet Tip and the Clog-Pruf, suddenly I had a small nick right in front of my pointy chin going WTG when I nearly lost the correct angle. I'm so glad to have the GEM Micromatic Open Comb in my den, otherwise is a completely different experience with the GEM Bullet Tip and the Clog-Pruf, I believe the GEM G-Bar behaves very much the same as the Bullet Tip.

Sotd - Sunday - 11/3/18

Razor - Schick O type clone
blade - Japanese twin
brush - Semogue 1305 boar
soap - Kent tallow
post - witch hazel
a/s - Williams Aqua Velva - Spanish
balm - Barts Bergamot and Vanilla
scent - Creed Bois de Portugal parfum.

Result - top end.

Shaving two days in a row - who'd have thought? A quick tidy up before going out to socialise again. It's not often in life that you get the chance to hang out with South Africans - Afrikaans - the accent!. I bloomed the Kent - not something I would normally do - left it up to its neck in hot water while I showered. I think it makes a difference. Initially not good - it started spewing airy, frothy crap lather out of the tin - but with persistence - it stepped up to the plate. A great soap - but MWF by any other name would be. First use of a Bart's Balm. Consider me impressed. The scent is based on an aftershave I have no knowledge of - but it was nice. It absorbed easily - non greasy - no shine. Face feel was - and remains - fantastic. Hours later. Very good indeed. I would compare it directly with the Gomez Barberia moisturiser - does the same job but at a fraction of the price. I would recommend Neil's products to you. I ordered four - but they were posted individually - for good reason - this was the first to turn up. I look forward to trying the lotions. I hope you all enjoy your shaves as much as I did - I.
