SOTD sat 29th/fri 4th

Congratulations on having your first "Shavette" shave mate. You are a braver man than I.
Hope you persevere at it and thank you for a very informative review.

Wayne:)

Thanks Wayne

My face feels as rough as a welders glove this morning, but I will persevere !
I'll stick to first pass WTG, and finish with a DE until I've got some basic technique re blade angle and grip.

What a shame that this awesome Rotbart Extra Dünn razor blade was discontinued. Its sharpness is pretty similar to the Feather Hi Stainless and very smooth at first use. Perfect BBS in three passes. No blood spots, no cuts and no irritations. Also the Proraso green line products prepared and cared my skin good before, during and after this shave.

This Thursday`s morning shave was accompanied by the beautiful Lilian Harvey.

I did warn you Rob, but once you find the angle, about midway between the 1912 and a DE, it's quite smooth.
Good luck :)
Hi Kevin,
Nice to see you spreading the love for " The Streamline" about , wonder how it compares with the
Sabre. I am over my collecting phase, having got all the models am thinning out the herd. Just hope
someone beats my bid on one. An uncased one went for £120 the other day.

I was thinking of not taking a brush with me on my holidays but wanted to experience a brusless shave first before making up my mind. I now know for sure that I will be taking a brush :)

Greetings,

The Groomed shave cream excelled itself today providing me with more than adequate quantity of lather for the shave,
i must remember not to be so generous with my cream portions in future shaves...I mixed up anough lather for 8 passes.

My Pearl SBF-11 Indian Razor & Rapira Swedish was yet another great combo, sharp & smooth.

A wonderful 3 pass + pick ups non expensive silky smooth shave with no errors to report...;)

Enjoy your day, ladies & gentlemen.

Razor: Streamline (on loan)
Razor blade: GEM Personna
Brush: Maseto 24mm extra dense Finest
Soap: Wickhams Classic 24 (Sample)
Post: BAA aftershave balm

A massive thank you to Kevin AKA @Boru62 for getting in touch and offering me the loan of the Streamline razor.
The razor looks class and the fit and finish is a big step up from the 1912.
It's also a big step up in aggression from the 1912 too.

I found the shave rough in places and there was a lot more blade feel compared to the 1912. I only needed 3 passes and no touch-ups.
I was going to use the Fine Platinum aftershave but I decided to use the BBA aftershave balm instead and my face felt tender in a few places.
Half an hour later and my face has recovered well do @Emma.BBA

Another sample from @Acer89
This is the first of the 6 samples James has sent I've been disappointed with.
I found the scent underwhelming and not very strong. I've read it's supposed to smell like Creed Aventus but I didn't get anything close to it...Told you it wouldn't last James.
@Looney12345
@mpf9ret

A shout out to @Scotshave who also offered to send me a razor to try. Thanks for the offer, really appreciate the gesture.

A pleasure, Rob. The Streamline is, indeed, a step up from other 1912s. It's one where you have to be careful of abiding with the 'no pressure' adage, 'cos it's a heavy bugger.

Come to think of it, I haven't given mine a whirl recently. I do tend to keep it for those special shaves that we all need from time to time....

Hope you're enjoying the vintage journey, Rob. Looking forward to reading your SOTD with the Clog-Pruf. The offer's still open for the 1924 'Shovelhead' at your convenience :)

Thank you very much Stephen for your kind offer. I'll be in touch about the 1924 soon. How does it compare to the 1912?

I've got a couple of razors on loan at the moment so I don't like keep them for too long. I think you can feel rushed (even though people say ‘no rush') when you have a couple of razors on loan or one on a pass-around. You don't end up giving them your full attention and it ends up being a pointless exercise.

The 1912 was a revelation and the shave and GEM blades were not at all how I thought they'd be. I thought the 1912 was up there with the Cobra, very smooth, very efficient and a lot cheaper.

I've heard good things about the CLog-Pruf for a while. I'm looking forward to using it.

Cheers
Rob

Prep.....Shower~MWF soap
Razor....Ever-Ready 1914
Blade....vintage Corrux, circa 1970
Brush....Semouge OC Badger
Soap....Scheermonnik Soek (Pass-Around)
Bowl....little Wren Pottery
Post....BBA PS Balm later followed by Jojoba oil
Scent....Aventus oil, from Mr Perfume

A great trouble free shave from the 14 & Corrux, close and smooth without irritation, was left extremely clean shaven.

Wishing you all a tremendous Thursday........:)

Thursday's shave:)

Pre-shave - Shower and face wash with Wright's Cold Tar Soap, followed by Warm water splash and Geo F Trumpter (Limes) Skin Food.
Razor - ATT SE1
Blade - KAI Captain Titan Mild (Pink) (day 4),
Soap - La Toja Soap Stick.
Brush - Omega "Hi-Brush" Synthetic Fibre "Barber Pole".
Post shave - Myrsol "Lemon" After Shave, followed by L'Occitane Cedrat After Shave Cream Gel.

A lovely shave, nice and relaxed, 3 passes: WTG; ATG and XTG.

The La Toja took a while to later up - I don't know if the application of the skin food affected the ability of the soap to lather?

Skin feels smooth, refreshed and relaxed.

Happy shaving.

Chris

Thursday

Olive Oil Soap and Man Cave Olivestone Facial Scrub
3P Preshave cream
Cella Extra Extra Purissima Soap
Grosvenor 404 Badger/Boar Brush
ES Claymore V2 on a Windrose S5 Damascus Steel Handle
Proline-P (#8)
Alum Block and rinse
BBA Post Shave Balm (sample)
Oudh Khalifa EDP

Off work for a couple of days as I am on shift Saturday and Sunday. This was the last outing for this Grosvenor brush in its current form. It is currently being steamed in preparation for its knew knot, currently en route from AP Shave Co.
I haven't used Cella for quite some time so it was a welcome return to the rotation. 3 pass BBS shave finished off very nicely with the sample of BBA Post Shave Balm
