Wickham Irish Fern soap
Razorock 400 Plissoft Noir
Dovo Shavette
Personna Platinum (1)
Lavender witch hazel mixture
Wickham Irish Fern ASB
Fendi Di Fendi Absoluto EDT

My first shavette shave tonight, and boy was it interesting.
It didn't take long for me to plant the blade into my left cheek. No real bleeding from this first cut, but it was a sign of things to come. . . . A couple more small nicks either side of my mouth and another on my right cheek. Only one nick really bled so it wasn't as bad as it could have been I guess.
First pass WTG completed, rinsed and assessed the damage. Not too bad for a first pass really.
By now I was getting a bit narked at myself for not being able to hold the razor in such a way to use it as effectively as I should.
I was tempted to finish my shave with a DE, then had a word with myself, re-lathered and set about pass two, XTG (sort of)
This pass felt better, but still not properly getting to grips with how to hold the razor.
End result was pretty smooth in most areas, one or two small rough patches, but in all a pretty acceptable shave.
I will persevere with the shavette. I won't let my first experience with it put me off.
I must say a big thank you to @Fox for sending me completely free and gratis the Wickham 1912 Irish Fern aftershave balm.
It smells identical to the soap to my nose.
I found it easy to apply, and absorbs very quickly. It's not at all greasy, and has left my skin feeling soothed and supple. Definitely a good balm, and I can see myself using it regularly in my shave routines.
Thanks also to @RCH for supplying me with the weapon of face destruction, (Dovo shavette)!!
Fendi to finish, and I smell good!

Greetings All,

Wednesday shave.

One days' growth and warm shave

Preparation – face washed with Clique Liquid facial soap (mild)

Pre: Prorosa White pre-share
Soap: Cello
Razor: Rockwell 6C (3P)
Blade: Shark (3rd)
Brush:RazoRock 400 Noir

Post Shave: Cold water rinse, Alum another cold rinse followed by a shower then Proraso aftershave lotion (red) and Nivea 2 Phase.

Again, what a joy!!!

New soap for me – Cello and I can instantly see why this is in some many peeps shaving den as a keeper. Great scent, (good enough to eat) super slick and thick lathers. 3 passes and touch up and BBS+

So, again, this was one happy man going to work this morning.

Parker Variant Razor
Sputnik Blade
Kent Infinity Synthetic Brush
Prorasa Menthol & Eucalyptus Soap
Castle Forbes Limes ASB

Today, I slung the Shark Super Chrome that I had used and slotted in a Sputnik to see if things would improve. That, and doing a bit more experimentation with the razor angle made steps towards the razor being a "keeper". Just 1 WTG pass with a few touch ups and all was well.

I'm a massive fan of the Proraso "croap". The first proper DE shave that I ever had (back in 2008) was using the Proraso cream, so I think a bit of nostalgia creeps in!

Regards
Ian

Razor: Streamline (on loan)
Razor blade: GEM Personna
Brush: Maseto 24mm extra dense Finest
Soap: Wickhams Classic 24 (Sample)
Post: BAA aftershave balm

A massive thank you to Kevin AKA @Boru62 for getting in touch and offering me the loan of the Streamline razor.
The razor looks class and the fit and finish is a big step up from the 1912.
It's also a big step up in aggression from the 1912 too.

I found the shave rough in places and there was a lot more blade feel compared to the 1912. I only needed 3 passes and no touch-ups.
I was going to use the Fine Platinum aftershave but I decided to use the BBA aftershave balm instead and my face felt tender in a few places.
Half an hour later and my face has recovered well do @Emma.BBA

Another sample from @Acer89
This is the first of the 6 samples James has sent I've been disappointed with.
I found the scent underwhelming and not very strong. I've read it's supposed to smell like Creed Aventus but I didn't get anything close to it...Told you it wouldn't last James.

A shout out to @Scotshave who also offered to send me a razor to try. Thanks for the offer, really appreciate the gesture.

Congratulations on having your first "Shavette" shave mate. You are a braver man than I.
Hope you persevere at it and thank you for a very informative review.

I did warn you Rob, but once you find the angle, about midway between the 1912 and a DE, it's quite smooth.
Good luck :)

First use of the famous Mitchell's Wool Fat... and it was a great debut indeed. Not hard to lather as I was led to believe by some comments online and a great performance giving a very slick and protective surface to the Silverhawk/Feather combo to mow down the whiskers. Superb shave in the end.

MWF with a boar brush ... lovely!
Great to hear you enjoyed it. Indeed! No lathering drama at all ... just a great soap and a great shave.
