Date: 20 July 2017

Brush: - RazoRock Plissoft Big Bruce Synthetic 26/63mm
Lather: - Wilkinson Sword Shave Stick (european version grated into a plastic tub)
Razor: - Parker Variant Adjustable in Satin Chrome (WTG #5, XTG #5, ATG #2)
Blade: - Gillette Silver Blue #1
Post: - Thayers Witch Hazel 'Unscented' / Bulldog Original Aftershave Balm
Fragrance: - YSL L'Homme EDT

Yesterday I've bought 3 Wilkinson Sword shave sticks european version from a local chemist store in London for £1.25 each and 1 plastic round tub 250ml size with a screw lid for 40p, I've grated all three sticks into a tub ready for shaving this is a tallow & coconut oil with glycerine and lanolin which smell very classic type scent for a light blue colour soap. The Wilkinson Sword shaving soap is not too bad for some reason it seem to dry out my skin pretty quick against Palmolive Classic shave stick (strange), the lather is very slick, cushy and it doesn't soak up a lot of water which is perfect.................Chow!!

Prep....Shower~ MWF Saop
Razor....Rolls Razor
Blade....Rolls from Sheffield
Bowl....Little Wren Pottery
Soap....La Savonniere du Moulin
Brush....Semouge 1305
Post....Thayers Rose Petal, BBA PSB, Jojoba Oil
Scent....Tom Ford~ London. (Mr Perfume)

Today's shave was a real treat, I used a razor which I think is fantastic , not only in its simplicity but also in its ability to give a proper good shave. Freshly honed and stropped the blade was ready.

The wonderful Donkey milk soap was as always whipped up into one the most luxuriant creamy lathers with my trusty 1305 boar in my LW bowl and I set to whisker wacking, the angle of approch with this razor was much the same as I would use with a straight razor and it effortlessly removed all traces of stubble leaving me clean shaven with the greatest of post shave skin feels, a great razor and an equaly great soap = a great shave!

Finnishing with my normal post shave routine of Thayers, BBA psb followed by Jojoba oil to leave my skin in the best possible condition for the day ahead.

The Perfume oil I'm using today is a new one for me and I'm liking it a lot, TF London is very complex and the scent is wonderful but it's not as heavy as TF Tabacco Vanille making it more aceptable as a day time frag, recommended.

Whishing you all a great day.........:)

Greetings,

All this week i've been having some great shaves..today's shave duplicated with the previous ones..

My 48R/Gillette Nacet duo performed with efficiency, resulting in another wonderful 3 pass + pick ups silky smooth shave, with no errors to report.

My face is feeling super smooth & smelling devine.

Enjoy your day, ladies & gentlemen.

Greetings All,

Thursday shave.

One days' growth and warm shave

Preparation – face washed with Clique Liquid facial soap (mild)

Pre: Prorosa Red pre-share
Soap: Molton Brown Shaving Soap
Razor: Merkur 37c
Blade: Wilkinson Sword (2nd)
Brush:RazoRock 400 Noir
Bowl: Catactacus Shaving Mug

Post Shave: Cold water rinse, Alum, another cold rinse followed by a shower then Proraso aftershave lotion (green) and Nivea 2 Phase.

Second use of the Merkur 37c and even though I am BBS, I had a few weepers so, OUCHIE Alum. This was me being over confident doing 3 passes (plus pick ups) when 2 would have been fine on a single day's growth. I will persevere with the 37c, I think I am over using it so irritating my skin. Once the initial Alum molten lava burn is over, the everything feels fine and post the Nivea 2 Phase application the morning is good.

Tried the Molton Brown shaving soap (very hard puck) – very nice scent (IMO) and it created a thick lather using my Catactacus Shaving bowl. Great residue slickness so will use again.

I loaded up the Thomas Clipper with a fresh Gillette Super Blue Silver (Chinese) blade as my last outing with one felt tuggy for the first pass, which is apparently not how it should go at all! This one...well, felt identical. It tugged and pinged my hairs which wasn't at all comfortable so I binned it and chucked in a Gillette Nacet on its first outing. Now, this is my first use of a Nacet blade and by jove they're cracking! They're mellow from the outset but make short work of hair. I can only assume the Gillette Super Blue Silver is a dud packet (@Bogeyman), but there we go! Life goes on and I don't feel hard done by, as it was @Blademonkey's generosity which allowed me to try them. I'll open the other packet he gifted me soon to see whether they're of the same ilk!

My first proper outing with OSP, another generosity gifted by @David68 (he won't accept any reciprocation, the bugger! :D ) and it loaded so beautifully, became so shiny/sheeny during my face lather and gave me ample slickness. Lovely soft, powdery scent which is dulled slightly by the soapy smell coming through. I feel like I need more @OSP in my life but would definitely tend towards a more powerful scent - I'm still very much tempted by a full tub James' Bay Rum offering...

Extro Bay Rum did the job we know it can - lovely post-shave feel and minimal sting which is a further testament to this blade/razor pairing!

The razor made little work of stubble, the brush made little work of the soap. All-in-all, job is a good'un! Very comfortable two-pass tidy-up (WTG/XTG). I am 100% smooth in the directions I shaved, not too far off that in the directions I didn't. I'm comfortable, irritation free and ready to go!

Onto the next one, chaps!

Please let me know if the second packet is a "Dud" and I shall inform the vendor and see what they want to do with the other packets I bought from them. Thanks :)

Sad to hear about your Super Gillette Blue Chinese experiment. All I can say is YMMV truly applies to blades more than any other factor. I agree that the Nacet Stainless is a super blade. ;)

I'm just hoping it's a one-off packet of duds. It was worth checking rather than mucking through. What I'm truly surprised at is that I had a good shave with an obviously dud blade the other day! the Nacet is a corker! :D I'd be happy with that blade herein if I wasn't such a sucker for trying out new things...
