Shave of the day Saturday 15th-Friday 21st july 2017

Wednesday AM 2017-07-19

Georgetown Pottery G12 scuttle (Green Oribe & Purple)
Rooney 1/3 Ivory Finest (26mm/55mm)
Colgate Barber SS (vintage) + sprays of Acqua di Parma Colonia Cologne
Weber Polished Head/UFO Colibri
Gillette Platinum 'Swede' (1)
Acqua di Genova 1853 spray aftershave

Evening shave.

Baxters of California Face Wash, bloom water.
OSP Barbershop soap.
Maseto 30mm finest.
Rockwell 6C (plate 4).
Astra SP (2).
Thayers Witch Hazel (unscented).
OSP Neroli Aftershave.

Face lathered this soap for the first time and a much better result. I found it easier to control the consistency of the lather. It wasn't at all bad on previous shaves, but this time the cushioning and slickness were superb. This is why, following the advice of one or two of the stalwarts on here, I like to use a new soap 4 or 5 times in succession and get to know what works best for particular soaps. (Am I alone in having a little black book of notes for each soap? Do I need therapy?). Needless to say, the Maseto, 6C, and Astra SP performed brilliantly. BBS shave in 3 very comfortable passes.

I use straights and the R41 scares me!!!
Well jumping from DE89 to R41 was big step for me but after a few shaves I saw that there is no place for fear of it. Just let the razor do the job without any pressure and easily skipped from three pass shave to two pass because there is no grain to remove with xtg. Friend of mine who gave me this razor to use said it is not aggressive it is just to efficient. Couldn't agree more.

My first SotD in nearly 5 years! The synthetic chubby arrived today and all the problems I had with badger and boar seem to of disappeared, I'm very happy!

Razor - Wilkinson Sword Hydro 5 (6)
Brush - Simpsons Chubby 2 Synthetic
Cream - Simpsons Peppermint and Rosemary
Post - Nivea Hydro gel

It'll be a number of weeks til I dip my toe back into DE (although cut throat always appealed more) with likely a R41 or English Rocket.

Again very happy with the chubby.

Worked out photos!

Razor: Mongoose AlumiGoose w/ Hempel Ti
Blade: Feather Professional (1)
Brush: Oscar 11, w/Omega 10049 Boar
Soap: Route 66 Barbershop Hop
A/S: Fine American Blend
Bowl: TW 3D Printer Bowl

Removed the Captain Titan Mild blade for a Feather Professional as I wasn't getting the performance from the Captain Titan that I'm used to getting.
I had a very good 3 pass shave with a clean up. I really enjoy the Fine American Blend.
