S.O.T.D. Saturday 7th October to Friday 13th October 2017

Thanks @flashashton27. Have you tried their Lothair? It's one of the Trades Route series.
No I haven't tried any Penhaligon's fragrances in a while. I've been meaning to pop into there Chester store & sample the Endymion Concentré, but just not had the opportunity. If I do, I'll definitely give Lothair a go too.

Greetings All,

Wednesday shave.

One growth and warm shave

Preparation – face washed with Clique Liquid facial soap (mild)

Pre: None
Soap: Fine Platinum
Razor: Rockwell 6C (3P)
Blade: Wilkinson Sword (3rd)
Brush: Rockwell 400 Noir (face lather)

Post Shave: Hot then cold water rinse, a shower and to conclude Nivea Sensitive Cooling.

So, my shave went from bad to worse, but you will get a giggle from it… Only good part, the Fine Platinum was whipped up into a slick, lovely lather. The Wilkinson sword must only last a couple of shaves as, unusually it gave me several weepers when going ATG. OK, not the end of the world. Then tidying up, I remove the plug from the sink (one of those lever plugs that leaves a gaping whole for speed of cleaning), rinse away whiskers and soap, undo my Rockwell, put it in to the cupboard (I must have knocked something as then clink, clink, clunk… The effing handle drops into the sink and down the plug hole (add suitable profanities, many were said). The sink is one of those with the gaping hole where the plug the hidden pipes, so not easy to get at. Hence now at work in a bad mood.

As of writing this at me desk - the handle is still in the pipes :(

Lesson for the day – LEAVE THE PLUG IN!

Cheers,

Brian

Happy Hump day (if the above made one of you gents smile, it was worth telling)

Pre: Shower
Razor: Rockwell 6C ~Plate 3
Blade: Wilkinson Sword Made in England
Creme: Omega Crema da Barba Eucalyptus
Brush: Stirling Synthetic 24 mm
Bowl: kitchen corn flakes Bowl
Post: Mala od Lavande Aftershave Lotion

Seems to me the English Wilkinson is better than the German one.
The Omega creme is more soap than cream IMHO, quite good lather, not so strong scent wise.
The kitchen bowl does a pretty good job and will hold off my shaving bowl acquisition for some time for sure.
The aftershave comes from a local Croatian small batch company that does creams, lotions and natural cosmetics, mainly for women.
The aftershave contains peppermint & tea tree oil aside from other ingredients. Quite nice but the bottle is hard to squeeze so that's a minus in my book.

Wednesday 11th October 2017
Prep: Shower
Razor: GEM Damaskeene Open Comb
Blade: Treet Carbon
Brush: RazoRock BC Silvertip
Soap: Portland
Aftershave: Astral Cream (soft)
EDT: Serge Lutens Chergui

A really nice shave but hard work, lots of touching up required, IMHO the open comb Damskeene is just too mild, much less so than the standard closed comb model. It took me a year of searching to find one of these razors (that was several years ago) and I was, right from the very first shave with it both disappointed and surprised as to just how mild it was.

Regards
Dick.

Omega 11137 boar
Lea Classic soap
ER 1912 Peerless Set
Gem S/S [ 2 ]
Alum Rub/Rinse off
Lea Classic A/S Lotion

The ER 1912- Revisited
After a great Shave I continued my rediscovery of the ER 1912 and chose to use the British Peerless set. With an excellent lather I started the Shave with the blade shimmed , but after two short strokes decided it felt too smooth with no blade feel.

Having discarded the shim I continued the Shave. which was still very smooth but what was
noticeable was the fact that it was also very quiet, compared to the usual rasping sound typically associated with a 1912. The Shave was completed very easily and I am not exaggerating when I say it was one of my Best ever SE shaves, and that includes those I have had with some modern SE Razors using the AC blade.

I now know why Paul @pjgh rates the 1912 so highly, just persevere and find one that works for you [ they are quite cheap ]. I cannot imagine how any of the New S/S Gem Razors can provide a better shave than the one I had today.

For using a bloody cartridge razor :confused:

Wednesday 11th October

Birch Tar Soap
3P Preshave Cream
Palmolive Cream with added Birch Tar and Cade EOs
Little Wren Pottery Bowl
Shavemac Badger Brush
Merkur 11C Razor with a Permasharp Blade
Alum Block and Rinse
Arko Classic Cream
Old Spice Noir AS
Oudh Khalifa EDP

The 'cheap as chips' creams often punch above their weight....but the scent is often lacking. As I seem to be in Birch Tar mode with my shower soap, I added a couple of drops of Birch Tar and Cade EOs to give a wonderful earthy, burnt wood scent. The razor/blade combo gave a fantastic 3 pass BBS shave. The Oudh Khalifa completed the feel good factor and I am now set up for an enjoyable day off work:D

Telescopic magnet? (Like the ones mechanics use) they're pretty cheap at motor factors.

Good luck
