Wednesday 1st November

Razorock 400
La Toja shave stick
Rockwell 6C plate 3
Nacet (2)
Proraso Green ASL

I have recently had to touch up and buff on my cheeks and jaw line with the Rockwell, and was wondering what I was doing wrong?
My last two shaves with this razor I used a steeper angle and it did the trick.
I think I had got lazy with my technique recently but I now know where I was going wrong.
No touch ups or buffing needed for a two pass BBS finish.

Razor: ATT R1 with Stork titanium handle
Razor blade: Polsilver (2)
Bruzh: Thater
Bowl: Little Wren Pottery
Soap: Wholly Kaw 'King if Oud'
Post: Myrsol Emulsion

Before all the fans of Wholly Kaw go mental. This is just my opinion and first impressions. Plus you all should know by now what a fussy bugger I am.

First the scent. Its very odd. Its a familiar smell but I just can't place it. I do get a hint of....wait for it.....Germolene.

Performance: Easy to lather and very good slickness. Cushion and protection was good but not the best I've tried.

I personally think Saponificio Varesino and Eufros soaps perform better.
As I said this is just my opinion.

Sorry you didn't think much of it. Just goes to show YMMV.
I've never tried Eufros but the SV was nothing special.
I've dug out my Martin de Candre yesterday, which I haven't used for about a year. One of only 2 non-tallow soaps I have. ( Antica Barbieria Colla being the other. ) Have you ever tried Mdc or ABC ? The ABC is Italian & I know you just looooove Italian stuff.

Vulfix 404 Grosvenor
Schick G8 Injector
Schick (5)
Vitos Red
Thayers Rose, Myrsol Emulsion & Crabtree and Evelyn Sevillian Neroli

Four uses is the charm for this NOS blades, tugged a lot. Changed blade for the ATG pass and I'll have to order some of those blades from Japan. This Vitos soap just gets better with each use, can see me using it a lot over the winter, and Cella too. A good shave aside from the tugging.

No worries. You know how fussy I am. The scent started to get on my nerve's last night so I thought best to move it on. I've tried a sample of MDC and I really (shocker horror) rated it. I haven't tried ABC yet as it's too expensive but it's on my wish list. I might see if Santa will buy me a tub?

I'll reply to your PM later.:)

Cheers
Rob

Saponificio Varesino Seaweed Scrub Preshave
Saponificio Varesino Felce Aromatica
MÜHLE 25mm Synth
Gotta 5/8”
Saponificio Varesino Felce Aromatica Aftershave
Creed Green Irish Tweed Attar

Same software as yesterday, wanted to get a handle on it... Adore the Felce, it's the complete opposite end of the fougère spectrum to Pens English fern but equally delightful. If you ever spot this SV seaweed soap in TKMax or the like, grab it! Absolutely magic stuff and a bargain at £4 for 300g. Lastly, “GIT”... It's a real grower, twas the violet leaf that threw me off yesterday (I hadn't done my homework so didn't expect it.)

My only conundrum now is brushes... The MÜHLE 25mm is superb, on par with the CH2 synth but I really dislike faux horn so it will have to go soon, and I keep finding myself browsing Masetos on eBay... Never did try a 24mm :D

Shave of the Day, Thursday 02 November 2017.

Pre-shave - Warm shower, Wright's Cold Tar Soap face wash, followed by bloom water from OSP Soap.
Razor - Supply-SE v2.0 (Plate **).
Blade - Personna injector (PTFE coated) (Day 1).
Soap - OSP Soap Eucalyptus and Menthol.
Bowl - Little Wren.
Brush - Simpsons Chubby 2 Synthetic Badger.
Post shave - OSP Eucalyptus and Menthol splash, followed by Ibiza-Aloe Aloe Vera Gel.

A great 3 pass shave today, very enjoyable - BBS result following WTG, XTG and ATG.

Time was not on my side this morning, so decided to quickly load with a new Personna blade. Will do a manual load the next time with a Schick Proline. I will be interested to see how the v2.0 works with that blade.

Have a great day all,

All the best,

Chris

The new General continues to impress as I've just had a very pleasant shave this time with a Feather pro blade.
I'm beginning to get the impression that you quite like your S/S General Arthur.

Thur 2nd November
Omega 11137
L`Occitane Cade cream
ER 1924 / EJ 89 handle
Gem S/S [ 3 ]
Alum Rub/Rinse off
Pitralon original A/S lotion

Used the ER1924, this time without a Shim. Not quite as smooth with lots of blade feel but not at all comfortable neither did I feel in danger for being bitten. Guess after much switching/changing of Razors my technique must have improved, thus allowing me to use them with confidence.

This Shave and the last Two with Vintage Razors makes me appreciate just how good they are, as honestly the shaves with some AC/ SE are not that much better than the ones I have had over the
last few days. However, it is still fun to try out different means of shaving.

Home sweet home!
And what a wonderful shave to return to:

Pre: Valobra Glicerlanolina soap
Brush: Tony Forsyth P&C LE 2017 Platypus
Soap: Dr. Dittmar Spezial
Razor: ATT M2
Blade: Vintage English White Gillette Platinum (1)
Post: Myrsol Emulsion
EDP: Christian Dior Eau Sauvage

Wasn't sure how good the Dr. Dittmar would be, as I am pretty much a Tallow man, but this soap is truly excellent.
It lathers very easily, has a gentle soapy scent, and the performance and post shave are right up there with the very best.
Little wonder that Salvador Dali shaved with it. For me, what puts it right up there with the best, apart from my previous comments, is that it has excellent residual slickness for touchups, which I find is usually lacking in non-tallow soaps.
Three passes for a DFS+. The Eau Sauvage was a great way to finish things off.
