S.O.T.D. Saturday 25th March to Friday 31st March 2017

Morning gents, another two pass straight shave to report, without a cut this time! My 8th ever shave and I am starting to get there.

Today was the first outing for @Fox latest and greatest installment in the Wickhams 1912 line, Magnum. This stuff is lovely, really, really nice. This and Cashmere are my two favourite scents and I've had pretty much all of them, including LEs. Darron constantly delivers with sublime soaps, they just work for me and the scents he creates are great. He's a gent, always willing to help and he looks after his customers. We are lucky to have him :D

Back to the straights, I've gone a bit straight mad in the last week, I've had four new (vintage) straights arrive, including a Kamisori and have one more due to be delivered, the last one is an absolute stunner. If anyone out there has a replacement SRDP leather for the modular paddle strop, or a Kanayama strop they no longer want, please let me know! I have adverts up for both :)

Four days stubble to mow through last night and I picked up the trusty Le Grelot P.Hospital. First pass was OK, I managed to get around my whole face and neck. For some reason I had a little outstanding irritation from my previous shave. Nothing major, but a couple of bumps etc. I got through all of these, with only 3 or 4 weepers, but when I rinsed off, there was a bit of a sting in places and also a bit patchy too. Second pass was good, tidied most places up and ended with an acceptable/just above acceptable finish. In some places I'm nice and smooth, in others a little bit rough. Surprisingly, the chin and lip areas I'm getting on with OK now, they need work, but they are smooth, it's under the jawline that's the worst! I'll get there :)

Gear:
Le Grelot P.Hospital 5/8
Shavemac ATG Unique Bulb (Black Beauty)
Wickhams 1912 Magnum
Thayers Aloe WH
Speick AB

Beautiful razor, your straight shaves are getting better all the time, well done. :-;

Remember to get photos up of all of your new acquisitions. ;) That Le Grelot is lovely looking, it has to be said! Rather strangely, I find under my chin easy and next to my Adam's apple the hardest... Funny how different people have different problem areas! Keep up the good work! :D
I used to do that, I find myself not doing it any more. I don't know why, I quite liked doing it and know that it's part of the fun, but I just seem to have stopped. I'll post the three that got sent for honing in the acquisitions thread, you'll guess who the honer is by the picture! He also has the truly gorgeous one arriving today, so hopefully a picture will be incoming for that soon!

Yes it is odd with the problem areas, I think it just takes time, and practice, lots of practice and patience, lots of patience, and blood, lots of blood :p:p

Fortunately the only bloody escapade I've had, so far (touch wood), is when I dropped my first straight. Moved my hand out the way and nicked my finger. Since then there's only been a few weepers etc. but nothing too disastrous! :D

It was tongue in cheek (for now and touch wood), I have had a couple of razor (badoom) thin lines that have bloomed a little blood and scabbed up, but so thin and not deep that they heal incredibly quickly and don't leave any marking. I hope to not have any worse than that in my straight shaving journey!

Brush: Vie Long 04503
Razor: Gibbs Adjustable No 17 (6) w/ Polsilver SI (3)
Soap: Valobra Cologne
Post: Thayers Rose Witch Hazel & Crabtree and Evelyn Sevillian Neroli

Two days growth to get through today so bravely cranked it up to 6, or 12 in my case (loosened the handle and cranked it all the way to 6, unwittingly already did it last week so I had doubled the max blade gap, made for a very interesting first pass!)

Setting 6 is a little too aggressive for my tastes, no cuts or irritation but a weeper or two on my chin. I tried it and sated my curiosity. Valobra performed like a champ, the Vie Long still holds the lather a little but is is breaking in still.
