Gillette / Procter and Gamble produce many blades in their Russian plant, how different can these blades really be, do you think they have kept to the original specifications of brands they bought up or is the diffence only in packaging.

Definitely different in most instances in my experience. Alloy, coating and grind are all variables

By way of example, I like PSI and Perma-sharp a hell of a lot, but Astra Platinum and Silver Blue are the total opposite

IMO, having tried all the old Gillette classics I think these are just as good and in several instances better.

No idea if there are differences but the Russian Gilette blade seem to have very good quality control and consistency. I have very rarely had a dud blade.

FWIW, I find the differences of the PPI Gillette Blades to be largely noticable.

I've used most of them and I've found there are ones which are very sharp (eg 7OC Yellow), sharp and smooth (Polsilver, Permasharp), smooth (Gillette Platinum) and the others which fit kind of somewhere between the ones named.

There are a couple which are fairly close to each other, I found Polsilver and Permasharp to be fairly close to each other, especially after a few shaves. Like SeanC, they are my favourite two blades as well.
