Review: RR Hawk SE razor

My Hawk will arrive tomorrow. I do have both Super and Pro on hand and will give both a shot ASAP. I like the Super blades in The General quite a lot.

Personally I couldn't as I don't have any :)
I do find the Feather Pro to be 'enough of a blade' in most SE razors I've used.

I was actually thinking about going 'the other way' and put a milder ProGuard in it to see how it performs. Granted, mostly because it's the only other compatible blade I seem to have around.
Hey..Those Pro Supers are as Blunt as a Badgers Arse..Nae Kiddin..The Pros are Far Sharper & a Far Superior Blade Regardless of the Exposure..Girly Man Blades..:D:D

Knickers..The Pro is by Far the Sharpest Blade..:D

Apparently Feather deploys a final micro-bevel angle of about 25 degrees which is the angle that has become somewhat of an industry standard as it gives the best compromise between sharpness and longevity. Speaking of the SuperPro - it's argued that the longer extension of this blade promotes the use of a more shallow angle and closer shave.

So as you can see - "sharpness" is often an overly one-dimensional way to look at a blade - and to claim that "if it's sharper it's better" is, arguable, just as simplistic. Factors like comfort, how forgiving it is, blade angle and longevity all play roles in what makes a blade "better".
If you only go for what is perceived as 'sharper' you might often end up settling on something that in the end doesn't provide you with the best possible shave.

My personal favorite of all these blades are the ProGuard blade as I find it strikes a balance between all those factors that - to me - gives the best shave. I quite honesty couldn't care less if it's "the sharpest one" or not :)

Hawk arrived, ready to do battle with the Bunny and General.

Your blasÄ— attitude of 'Oh the RX? It's just another razor, I'll try it when I get around to it' wasn't really fooling anyone.

Lol, it did have me really intrigued when I saw it in person. Now I'm going to have to go back and forth between the Rx and the Hawks for a while.

Had my first shave with the chrome Hawk this morning. I had previously purchased a Mongoose Batch 2 razor and found it to be inefficient and irritating, so I'd concluded that SE's just weren't for me. I was wrong! The Hawk fitted with a Kai Mild blade produced a smooth, comfortable and close shave. I'm impressed.

Hope Stan decides to produce a Stainless Hawk (I fitted mine with an 85mm stainless handle).

a) Welcome,
b) Happy you liked the Hawk

Stan is the ATT guy and Joe is Razorock. Easy to get them mixed up when you consider how innovative both are in bring out good products that people like.

My Chrome Hawk arrived yesterday and I will shave with it tonight. Did a couple of dry runs last night (without a blade loaded) and this appears to be a one angle razor like the Mongoose and Gem type SE. First thing I noticed was it was so light that it felt more like a toy and so immediately put on a brass handle. We'll see how it goes.
