Thank you Emma C.! Interesting list, I don't think I've seen the oat kernel oil in a shaving product.

Sorry Emma

I thought i had replied already.

It goes on real nice not too slick or in any way greasy.

I didn't get much of a fragrance from it, but that's fine.

Shave wise, very comfortable and you didn't need that much for a shave (!)

Overall a very good product that I would probably put on my Xmas list!

I feel at the end of the day you pay your money and take your choice.

Thanks

Mark

This thread sounded a bit like hard work to me. Most of the comments from those needing to be convinced whether they want it, or like it or think it's worth it etc. etc. Which is fair enough I suppose. The observations about the price of it are all relative really... as was said, you usually get what you pay for.

I did have some stuff called Village Barber - shaving oil and balm in a package (which wasn't particularly cheap then and isn't now)... and I liked it, but then I'm extremely fond of oils and balms generally - to the extent that I make up my own mixes as well as using the ready made gear. Members with a couple of years on here will remember several enthusiastic and enjoyable threads about oils.

Others say it clogs up the razor and messes the sink and doesn't work or brings them out in hives and blotches, or causes plague and pestilence or worse. The clogging bit hasn't been my experience but maybe that's to do with the water here? (it's very soft) and I actually find that most soaps leave a scummy deposit on my sink after shaving anyway. And, to date, my face hasn't erupted in boils, warts or pustules either.

Just goes to show Lydgate was right when he said 'You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can't please all of the people all of the time'.

(But I still love oils of all sorts and, whilst I haven't used this one I'd be surprised if I didn't find it rather pleasant when applied to the fizzog of the discerning gentleman) :)
