Post shave balm.

I've been using Aloe Vera Gel almost exclusively. It absorbs completely in seconds, without feeling oily or greasy, and closes the pores while leaving the skin smooth and conditioned.

Myrsol Emulsion is also quite nice, especially in summer due to its cooling menthol content. Clinique Post-Shave Soother is another good one.

I have an RSC, there have been so many iterations of the range under Creightons and now Swallowfield. Are the same products at £1.00 in Savers the ones in Boots etc for a lot more? I will have to have a look.

I just use Body shop Macca root moisturiser, have done for years and it works really well for me, with a factor 15 SPF in it as well. I keep aloe vera gel on hand just in case i've pushed a blade a bit too far or over done it on the passes a bit, it really helps.

Sounds simple. Why is it simple is often best? ;)

RSC is available at Boots at £5.49 or £3.00 at Sainsbury's. This is a completely different from the formula at Savers, which is a Swallowfield product. It's 99p but full of parabens, the more expensive one isn't.

I use the BBA product too as my "oh God what have I done" repair routine but thankfully that is very rare. It is very good but frighteningly expensive.

A kind soul from this forum suggested this for me: https://www.bulldogskincare.com/shop/protective-moisturiser/
Bulldog's protective moisturiser, it contains an SPF15 which for someone like me with almost no obvious melanin is useful particularly in the summer. The advertised £8 becomes more like £4 when sought out.

The best balms I have used are by Wickham. Like their soaps, the balms are outstanding and come in pretty much all of the fragrances of their soaps.

@Fox is the owner of Wickham soaps, so he might be able to give you additional information.

I have found this too. I'm still trialling blades, I've found the BBA PSB helpful after some shaves, but with the blades I've found to suit my skin, I can get away with AVG, or even just a good cold water rinse then walk away.

Thank you @Talster for the heads up.

A good place for balm samples at good prices is shavedash.com you will find mine, Wickhams on the bottom of this list of balm samples from companies. https://shavedash.com/products/#!/Post-Shave-Balm-Samples/c/22133277/offset=0&sort=nameAsc

This way you get the chance to try many for the cost of one large container of balm. :)

I was recommended to try Dermalogica Calm Water gel by a Dermalogica representative. Wow! It's very good indeed, but also very expensive. I also use Dermalogica Post Shave Balm which is also very good, but the calm water gel is the best imho.
