Polsilver... will they be the greatest no longer made blade of modern times ?

My standard blade is/has been a Gillette Wilkinson Sword which have been 3 shaves and bin, just had shave no. 5 on a Polsilver SI and it's going strong and not giving any issues, thankfully bought a 100 of them so got enough to last a while.

I have a stash from when they were called Super Iridiums. Great blades but not Feather great.
The Feather blades are certainly excellent blades. I shave everyday so I don't notice much difference in sharpness / cutting power between Feather and Perma Sharp for instance, however, I find the first shave with a Feather is not as smooth as it's with a Perma Sharp, Voskod, Polsilver, etc. After the first shave the Feather blade is fantastic for another 2 or 3 shaves max.

Lodz Polsilver stainless steel, great blades imo, sadly no longer in production in Lodz, Poland.

I'm glad I've got 990 blades of Vintage Polsilver Stainless (brown) left, since I bought a 1000 blades last year in total for one whole box of 25 packets of 10 blades each that's 250 blades per whole box and I got 4 boxes.....Great blades to have them in my den.

For DE blades they are the best, I've got 595 but they should last a while, most of my razors are SE's now!
I still may buy some more though while they are still available..... At a price!

Never tried the Browns or originals but I like the Polsilver. I am not sure about the end of production rumour but there will be loads knocking about in the medium term. Astra Greens are damn near as good for me and cheaper so will be able to live without them if they go. As for feathers no matter how gently i shave I get burn and blood. I hate the damn things!

It does not make a lot of sense to discontinue Polsilver blades. I mean, they kinda are the most expensive Russian ones, but they are also selling pretty well.

They are made in the same factory with green Gillettes 7 O'clock, Astra SS or Permasharp as far as I understand. And these ones are not really as popular as Polsilver. So, they might as well discontinue those.

The stories with blades being stolen from truck drivers by Bulgarians and then sold on eBay is laughable and I don't believe it one bit.

And, if you do a Google search, you'll find out that these blades are getting "discontinued" since 2011, even before Williams was discontinued. And some claim that they went out of production in 2009. So... I don't know... Sounds sketchy to me.

If anything, I've seen their prices going down on eBay, from European vendors, and there are more sellers than they were before. The places where prices went up were in the US and outside of the EU, and most vendors that did that attributed to the "discontinued" story. I've just bought 100 for £12, the same price as Voskhods.

Choosing this blade for false stories is pretty logical. It's not the cheapest blade, but not the most expensive either, and the reputation of these blades is great, I've rarely seen people saying they are bad.

Gillette Rubies are nearly twice the price of Polsilvers & made in the same factory in St Petersburg. Polsilvers were my no.1 blade until I tried Rubies - stunning blades.
