Photo of the day

Portraits - @Floid_Maniac @Helveticum @William Dobson - my final contribution to the theme of the week. I didn't take this picture - because that's me. Cerverceria Dorno - Madrid - just across the road from Atocha station. The bar has gone now - replaced by KFC or some such rubbish. It's become a distressingly common event - proper Spanish cafes have gone the way of homogenised chains and international brands. You go back to a favourite place and it's now a Starbucks. For me, sad. I loathe having my picture taken. Done by my other-half with my Leica. 35mm and XP2. Evidently, her understanding of how to focus a rangefinder is rudimentary. No problem - people fixate too much on sharpness in pictures. Soft can indeed be better than sharp on occasion. This is one of the very few pictures I like of myself. cheers - I.

'The Dark Side' - the proposed theme for the week for those that like to post here. After talking to @Floid_Maniac - we can interpret this idea in any way shape or form we want. What is the dark side to you? It could be any picture you have taken that you find unsettling, odd, sinister, discomfiting or - more literally - just a picture taken at night. Surrealism is another idea. It's entirely up to you. It's a wide remit - you can do as you wish. I hope this is an inclusive idea. Starts Sunday for Monday. - cheers - I.

Great portrait. That's a Rolex, right? Fortunately, what you described hasn't hit Northern Spain - yet.

Reflection?

P. - mostly - this is quite hard to explain - the bit the middle is a mural in the lobby of a former trade union headquarters - that bit isn't a reflection, the camera is looking straight at it. Everything else is a reflection - that's the street behind me. The front of the office is entirely glass and I have the door held open with my foot to allow me to see in. If you look carefully you can see my outline. Hope that made sense to you - cheers - I.

Ah, yes I see, very good indeed .:)

Mate - I hope your part of Spain maintains its regional identify for as long as possible. Where you are is one of the few bits of the country I haven't been to yet. It'll be joined to the AVE soon enough I'm sure. That's one of the many things I love about the country - they have the sense to invest in a decent rail system. A Rolex - ha ha - I wish, I wish - cheers - I.
