Difference is, pictures in the contest will be purpose shot, most probably around everyone's habitat. Not in Himalayas or Alaska ten years ago. Plus it will be limited by a topic. So I don't think that's fully relevant.

I agree, it would be great to see more participation on this section if only for my personal enjoyment of seeing other people's pictures and there have been some very good pictures taken covering all sorts of subjects from landscapes to having fun on a beach or even the odd pet picture, I enjoy them all and I'm not saying a competition is a bad thing, it's just not my thing. I'm not competitive by nature and have never entered a competition in my life.
There are enough members on this fourm so Im sure if people want a competition they will enter and I look forward to seeing the photos.
What topics were you thinking of setting out of interest?

Yes that could be challenging, not only to get a complete stranger to agree to having a photo taken but to also agree for that image to be used.....but I like the idea. I look forward to seeing what other chalangeing photo shoot ideas you can come up with.

@Wayne Pritchard - Please join in mate. You sound eminently qualified. It's got nothing to do with being an amateur or professional. All pictures are created equal - the point is that we all are given to creating images. I challenge you - in a nice friendly way - to post a pic tomorrow. I
