Phoenix and Beau: Vegan soap testers wanted

I test drove the vegan soap sample tonight.
I pushed a small amount into the bottom of my finest Home Bargains tapas bowl and set to lathering with my RazoRock 400 Noir.
It's very quick to lather, and with a few additional drops of water it made a silky peaky lather.
Razor of choice was my Rockwell 6c on plate 3 with a Gillette Silver Blue on it's 3rd outing.
Slickness was evident, as was good cushioning.

Get some flavouring into it.
if that's what vegans smell like I wouldn't like to eat one !

Seriously, this formula performed very well.

Friday night inpired by a bottle of Cote Du Rhone, hmmm, maybe a soap like this could be used for daily wash and conditioning of beard, ie face lather with brush of choice and rinse would leave facial hair and skin in best shape :)

Not far wrong @Nisse, one of the tests i'm planning with this soap is post shave squeezing out all the remaining lather from my brush and massaging into my neck, goatie and face, leaving it sit there till it dehydrates as I soak in the tub. Finally washing off post bath. If I can keep a soap scented or otherwise on my skin that long with no reaction i'll never have an issue with a 4 pass shave and with soaps that have those lovely skin caring ingredients like this one it will super boost the post shave like you can't imagine. Its my gold seal on whether a soap agrees with my skin 100%.

Kerrys standard formula unscented passes so I know this is very likely to pass too.

Just had my first go at my sample. Given that Kerry is asking for feedback, I quite enjoyed that it made me think about the shave and lathering more carefully than I usually do. First impressions - lathered super easily; I think I made it a little too thick on my first pass and I added more water for the second - then it really came alive. It made LOTS of lather from a fairly short load. Very slick, lots of glide and had plenty of residual slickness which I do find is sometimes an issue with non-tallow soaps. I'm going to stick with this soap until it's gone; I want to really get to know it properly and find the optimum way to lather it for me. Post shave - well I didn't really notice anything - I'm trying to give a compliment. My face was not dry at all (my skin can be a little dry and I tend to use a balm after every shave) and I didn't notice any tightness. I also didn't notice any attempt at moisturising, which is again a compliment. I do notice SV and Pre de Provence really leave my skin feeling as though there is a little moisturiser in the soap, this left my skin feeling absolutely normal and this was rather nice. No irritation caused of any kind.

Just my first thoughts.

First use of the soap this morning. I pressed a fair amount in to the bottom of my bowl and got to work with a damp Maseto brush. The water is very hard in my area and I always have to use quite a lot of product, and work for some time to get a good lather. But I found that, as with other P&B soaps I have used, this one lathered very easily. I gradually added water to the mix and came up with plenty of creamy lather. More than enough for three passes and pick-ups. The lather was perhaps a touch wetter than I prefer, but that was down to me not quite getting the mix right. The shave was very comfortable. Plenty of cushioning and decent slickness. Zero irritation during or post shave. Not a thought of reaching for any balm, which for me indicates how comfortable the shave was. An hour later and my face still feels great. This is a very good soap and I will give it another run later this week. Thanks Kerry for giving me the opportunity to trial the soap.

I feel like I've really got to know this now. Used it at lasts 8 times now, it is really good. I've tried face and bowl lathering and played around with amount of water. It really can take a lot of water and I now get loads of lather every time. I find it slick and rich. A lovely shiny, yoghurty lather. Face feels great after. My feedback is fairly clear in my mind now - I will certainly be buying a tub of this when it's released. I think Kerry has done a really good job with it. It's as good as other non-tallow soaps I've used.

In the minor exposure I've had to it I've found it's super-slick and does a great job. It's hard to fully scrutinise without a scent as you never know quite how it'll turn out, but I'd imagine the scents will be able to stay truer to their nature as the base features very little scent itself. I've found that playing around with DIY shaving soap myself, the stearic acid/coconut oil type combos are very scent-light.

I've found mine doesn't take quite as much water as P&B's tallow formulations, though that's not to say it doesn't take much water full-stop. It does, and that is evident. It has a good post-shave feel, not overly sticky/oily etc. and certainly not too drying.

All up, I'll be interested to know what sort of scents are being brought to the table as that's the only thing which will sway my spending over the tallow-featuring variants.

Good work @phoenixandbeau!

Thanks for taking the time to feedback, @Benz3ne. Scent wise we will be keeping it simple. We have these as the very probable first four:
1) Cedarwood and Juniper
2) Lavender and Orange
3) Bay and Lime
4) Rosemary and Eucalyptus

Thanks again,

Kerry.
