Newbie Pass Around

That came around a bit quicker than expected, looking forward to it.

Have sent @PewterRaven a PM with the address details

Cheers, John

No, but not surprising from MyHermes, as collected on Thursday. They don't seem to do much 24hr

Tracking info suggests it might be today, but we will see. And then it depends on if it is before or after I collect stuff from my mailing service.

John

Glad it has arrived.
It sounds like a sensible plan to me regarding your meeting.

It was definitely the way to go, since I managed to take a slice out my face this morning with the Muhle R89!

As I understand it, that's not even so aggressive a razor, but is clearly more aggressive than the Tech or Wilkinson Sword Classic I've been using up until now. I'm a bit wary of breaking out the Futur clone now - I may start it at setting 1.

Check your angles and pressure. Some nicks are inevitable, but most are pressure, technique, or in my case, cocky behaviour or not concentrating.
A mild razor forgives a lot, more aggressive less so. I’m sure you’ll dial it in.

Just an update regarding my use of Newbie Box 2 -
The initial contents where overwhelming and I soon realised that during a couple of weeks, that you barely scratch the surface with their use.
I didn’t take favourably using the creams, something I had ever hardly used. I read up and watched YouTube demos, but overall still preferred the Shaving Soap for personal use.
In particular, the OSP sample was most impressive. Great lubricant and refreshing smell.
As a result of using this, I ordered The Barber Shop OSP Shaving Soap online.
Delivery was fast and efficient, a lovely Soap to my collection.
Back to the box - I didn’t use any of the blades. Sadly I developed a rash from use of the soaps. I believe it was caused by the constant change over the two weeks. In hindsight, maybe I should have just used two or three creams instead.
I have still to experiment with DE and SE blades, will persevere until I am comfortable with use.
The Newbie Box and this forum, open up a whole new world with regard to shaving - thank you.
It’s not so much a ‘learning curve’, more a pleasurable experience.
From what used to be a daily chore over the last fifty years, has now turned into an enjoyable part of my day with the Shaving process.
Regards
Paul

Hiya, I'm only a week into box 1, but I'm going on holiday pretty much immediately after the second week's finished so I thought I'd better make a start on finding out where it's going next so it doesn't sit unused in my house for a week. As Paul notes above, it can be a little overwhelming and I won't have tried even half of the contents before it gets sent on (but then, I wouldn't want to use all of them).

Can someone let me know who's next up for box 1?

Hi @Weean,...Why don't you put your name down for box 2 for when you get back?......
