Newbie Pass Around

Had troubles with it drying out a lot, and after shaving I ended up with a rash on my neck for the first time ever. Could be coincidence but that's the only thing I'd changed for a while, except the bbr post shave
It is a very thirsty soap. I find myself dipping my brush in the sink at least twice, despite using a healthy amount of water to make the lather.

Shame about the rash. Hopefully, you’re still willing to try other scents and more water with OSP, as when you dial it in, it’s so good.

You can blame me for BBR, as I added that. I have sensitive skin, but was ok with it, but obviously everyone is different. Amazingly the beard growth slowing ingredient works if you use the balm daily for a month or so. I just stopped using it when I upgraded to BBA.

@Mbarn I'd like to thank you then as it smells good and feels nice to use. Just need to try both again separately to see what the culprit was. Or if it was as far cry toff said about poor lather by me not adding enough water. Hopefully one day I will find out my answer. Definitely recommend the proraso soap and pre to anyone that is yet to try. There's a reason so many people rate it so highly! Will be buying some soon

I’m just wondering, are you wetting your beard, then adding pre-shave, and painting on your lather to a basically dry face?
It’s what I would do, but the pre-shave contains glycerin, which sucks up some water. Adding a thirsty soap on top of that, without enough water is recipe for a dry/un-slick lather.

I’d recommend experimenting by dipping the tips of the brush in your water, after you face is covered in lather, and see how that little bit of water changes the lather on your face. If you mess it up, you can always add more soap.

Perhaps you have arrived at TSR equipped with your first shiny new razor and brush. Perhaps you are yet to start the journey. Either way, the forum discussions on seemingly endless opportunities in shaving hardware might possibly excite and daunt you in equal measure.

Well you oughtn't worry. We're a kind-hearted bunch here and, to prove that you should stick around in this forum (one of the brighter corners of the Internet), members have put together a Pass Around box of razors, different sorts of blades, soaps and creams for forum novices to experience and enjoy. Treasures inside range from Ladas DE blades from Russia to the fabled French Martin de Candre shaving soap.

All that is asked for is that the parcel is passed on in the way you would personally wish to receive it: send it on promptly, feel free to replenish stock from your own possessions, and don't pinch all of the good bits and send on your discards!

Post your interest below.

Hi Guys, just wanted to give you a quick update I’ve been away so not really had much chance to try many products out as yet.

What I have tried so far are 2 of the Phonex & Beau samples which are amazing and 100% will be purchasing them :) absolutely love the scent of the Albion.

I’ve also tried a couple of blades which I’ve not managed to try before and seem to get a really smooth shave with the Gillette Platinum blade.

Just a quick note how long should I keep this box for it’s taking me a while to get through it all with so much to go at.

Hi jonathan. Glad you're enjoying it like many others like me. I was advised around 2 weeks was fair but I'm sure someone actually running the boxes will tell you soon.

Hello
Two weeks is the standard deemed reasonable timeline. There’s another week of “dead time” where posting and receiving is taken in to account.
Please keep for a few extra days, but if that doesn’t cover it, I’d suggest you put your name down again for a later date, or even the other box.

Thanks

So who is next on the list and ill get this sent out mid next week

Woohoo, box 1 has arrived! Can't wait to get it home.

However, I have a Very Important Meeting on Friday, so I'll content myself with playing with all the soaps and brushes I claimed I was uninterested in until breaking out the razors next week. Don't want to slice my face open using an unfamiliar razor!
