New Saponificio Varesino release

Personally I find SV scent strength to be just right, but I do like them on the conservative side... Stirling / B&M for example are both way too strong for me, even Wickhams is too much.

Whether i like the scents is another matter, they're all generally quite sweet and modern... I can't help but compare them to lynx or Adidas shower gels, I don't feel they warrant scent pyramids or fanfare.

Performance however is top notch, but then so is Haslinger for 1/2 the price o_O

Soaps have improved beyond all recognition these days. There are a plethora of quality soaps and the main reason for buying them is just to have them. Be it S.V, Stirling, Wickahams, OSP, B&M or any of the many others they all provide a cracking lather and great shaving experience. You just have to choose your favorite which is getting harder and harder with every new soap released. You are hard pressed to get a duff one.

I have never tried their Soaps. How do they compare to OSP?

I'm not a massive fan of OSP soaps, which I know I'm in the minority here.

SV soaps tick very box for me. Presentation scent and Performance.

Their scents are like modern colognes. Well blended and complex. Scent strength is around a 6-7 for me. Not too strong but present throughout the shave. A couple do linger a few hours afterwards.

Performance is top draw and the best I've tried so far. I've tried a few high end soaps and been, on the whole disappointed.

If I would recommend one to try first it would be Tundra Artica. A stunning scent and brilliant performance.

Cheers
Rob

How do rate Haslinger to the above soaps?

I asked Anthony from Shave Lounge when he'll be getting the new products from SV yesterday. Here's his response below:

We have ordered the new SV shave soap, aftershave lotion and body soap, and also the newly re-issued Alder wood bowl. Our order left Italy today, so according to the tracking information, it will be with us by Tuesday (or earlier). As soon as the stock arrives we'll get it added to our website. I'm looking forward to trying the new scent myself!

First impressions. The scent strength is on par with the rest if the SV line (apart from the 70th Anniversary, which I found quite weak).

I like the scent but I'm not blown away...yet. It's like an old school cologne with a hint of spice in the background.
If you like their 70th Anniversary edition I think you'll be a fan of this too.

The packaging. I'm glad they chose to supply it in the cardboard box but I don't see the point in the outer box. It's pointless and adds to the cost of the soap. I'm no Eco warrior but aren't we supposed to be reducing packaging for the good of the environment?

I'll report back once I've used it.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the new SV soap Rob. ;)
